On 9/11 I was watching Real Genius on the HBO my family was stealing in the pre-digital cable switchover. If anyone wants to talk national tragedy it's when the US telecoms infrastructure switched from analog to pure digital.

If the perform the correct ritual and plug the thing into the thing and take off the terminator then boom you ~stole~ free cable. Now, instead of communing with the cable spirits raw, the individual connectors on the tap have to receive authorization from the cable billing office before it dispenses sweet sweet signal. I mean we live in the future and it's better now. But it was cool back then.
