Pacheco for the Chiefs was absolutely going to return that kickoff that he caught 2 yards out of bounds behind the end zone if they'd have let him. This is after returning one he caught 9 yards deep in there. I don't blame anyone for doing that in preseason trying to win a job really.

Special teams is the place most rookies will have the most impact, so you need to give them every chance to show if they can. Since kickoffs / ST in practice is harder since everyone you keep is going to be doing both jobs.
