IIRC, the N64 games constrained height differences (and didn't even have them at first?) to prevent the animations from getting too messed up. Looking at the modern WWE games, where any height difference of more than like 6" makes everything look bad, I think that was the right decision.

Something I really dig is that they use Arcade/Dreamcast Royal Rumble entrances where instead of doing the entire thing (which is tedious as hell), they just highlight the cool part and move on. Just cutting to Adam Cole doing the "BOOM!" taunt, stepping into the ring, then doing his shuffle is all you need.
