I've been playing without the pass and got a 1st in about 3-4 attempts, there's not THAT much variation in hero strength for choosing from 4 to be neccessary to compete. By definition it should only matter in half of your matches.

Also yeah Sylvanas is pretty good on paper (especially when compared to vanilla HS cards like assassinate or mind control), but when I look at how you usually die in this meta it's rarely from any single huge beatstick but most frequently a board full of varied minions of all sizes. Or face damage with spells, which this also does nothing against.

Immune is no damage and can’t be targeted. Starfish wouldn’t work (well they would be silenced but still perma-immune) the rest would all work

I guess it’s one of those things where it’s 2 neutral cards you can slot into any slow deck and potentially scam a win if the control mirror opponent doesn’t have nontargetted removal in their deck they might not like in terms of restricting deck design space, even if the actual number of games it would affect are small

If something gets nerfed and you don’t need it immediately you should just dust it. Worst case it’s still good and you end up needing it again so you recraft it at no dust lost, or you don’t and use the dust for something else. In the meantime if you’re still actively opening packs you might open another copy to fill the collection gap without having to spend dust, rather than keep them and get dupes after the refund window expires that only dust for normal value.

Is there a reason to not 'dust' your maxed merc excess coins for renown I'm missing? Some disclosed future use for coins that doesn't use the renown middle-man I'm forgetting? They give you a big dust all type button so i'm kinda assuming they intend you to just dump everything right away

The hammer bash thing seems a very elaborate way to lay out what is basically ‘pay this much and get everything in the box’ because getting a half dozen top 4 finishes in a month or two is trivial and you do just keep going til you get everything. That they even bother to do the whole odds thing and randomise your prizes only matters if you’re going to keep giving away 1 freebie each time.

Yeah paladins’ life total is relatively* untapped resource unlike warlock where any other damage is denying you hero powers later in the game, and they often have a number of incidental life gain cards that are run anyway so they will often end up not costing anything


* weapons are the exception here but right now paladin doesn’t really have too many that see play

So are the opinions on the cashgrab DK miniset still 'meh just craft and use your gold on packs' or should i use the 2000 gold I've reserved on it? Seen at least one decklist with Forstmourne already and I imagine the tipping point for 'better value than 20 packs' is having to craft some of those legendaries and epics

Many people at all skill levels will be trying out the new class right now, especially with the lich king quest line pushing DK play, and it obviously is all entirely new decks so will be at an early disadvantage against other classes with existing, refined archetypes. I would wait a few weeks before worrying about it being underpowered

The idea is to stay alive and keep discounting until you either get through casting all your relics and have some big spirits to force through or you can get a spell damage plus Jace turn that clears their board , fel barrages them and let’s you swing for the last 15

As far as I’m aware, signatures are on their own tier of opening odds so aren’t replacing a ‘normal’ legendary when you get them. Even if you won’t use it it’s at least stopping you from opening a regular version of the card from now on so it’s a small bonus.

Imp warlock and aggro Druid still exist and with Renethal nerfed will be potentially bigger deals now. You really can’t hold back your removal for turn 6 there so missing a 12-18 point heal is gonna sting, not to mention the relic is now also competing for your turn 6 plays

Its just inherent to the design of Death Knight, making class cards more powerful with the understanding you only get access to a third of them in deckbuilding is completely antihetical to a draft format. the only balance solution is completely nerfing class card offering rates for DK entirely and having the class just be neutral.dec is super boring to play as, so theres no good solution for Arena. They clearly never considered or cared about it while designing the class because why start now.

I used to cheese this out with demon hunter cards that did gently caress all unless you attacked this turn but DK corpse caring cards are much simpler and not weak to rogue/druid

This is to stop players will full sets doing things like dusting a recently nerfed rare/common card with full refund value then opening packs of that set to get that exact card and then repeating the process.

Huh, well maybe this will break my habit of doing my daily bounties. Can’t see a reason to interact with the boss rush mode once I’ve farmed enough renown to fully level everything. Using the mode to farm renown to buy bonuses just for the mode is distinctly unappealing when the payoff is just getting more renown from the mode. With single digit games of PVP played, a sitting here with a couple dozen mercs a single equipment upgrade off from maxed (and 2 legendaries craftable but untouched in case of free merc packs) maybe I do just finish the collection off and declare that I completed the mode without buying a single pack. Only 6 more after all…
