Don’t think I’ve ever had emotional sports whiplash like that. I had already stopped caring about winning or losing because of all the mistakes and getting 12th manned to hell, because even with all that the offense was downright watchable for the first time in eight years. But then that ending happened and I went to bed sunken into the most poisonous pessimism about the team’s future. We just had a coach with terrible clock management! How did we get someone WORSE?!

Broncos fans were expecting a rapid resurgence of relevancy this year. And a watchable offense. I have hope that they can improve, but this was a shockingly bad start.

I'll tell you what I hoped for in entire seasons that went like this as a Chargers fan who watched the Mike McCoy era: that the team lost enough games and the front office was smart enough to loving fire them at the end of the season. Yeah, hoping they lost games just to get rid of their lovely coach loving sucks, but the good news that it eventually happens. People like Hackett don't last long as head coaches. They might get lucky here and there but they aren't good enough to sustain that luck. As this is only week 1, give it time to see if he unfucks himself in a hurry or if this is exactly what you can look forward to for the entire season. But given what coward head coaches look like, and he pretty much hit on every theme, I'm willing to bet the thread title is generous.

Was really hoping the Raiders would have the Pat's stink on them now and not get screwed by the refs anymore, but that's two out of two to start the season that they refs screwed them. Unless they get some makeup games at the end of the season, this will be the 5th year in a row with at least a -2 ref differential.
