Does anyone know when the CoD Modern Warfare 2 beta will be available for download? The first (and PlayStation exclusive) beta weekend is supposed to start on Friday. I pre-ordered a while back. I just want to have enough time to download it before Friday in case it's huge.

e: nvm! I just checked and it's available to download now :) 25.31 GB

Wait, Sony gets a timed exclusive on CoD content, while arguing MS shouldn’t be allowed to have exclusivity?

Almost as if a timed exclusive for some inconsequential content is different to permanent exclusivity for an entire franchise!

Weird!

It’s really not when you consider how many units are sold the first weeks after release. That exclusive toe dip is a big deal.

PSVR2 looks very good, although they dropped the ball with no onboard audio nor straps on the controllers. I’m sure someone will make straps like 3rd parties did for Quest, but the audio thing is gonna be a fun surprise when people realize they need yet another wireless device on their head.

At this point I have more faith in Sony getting content created as Valve can’t stay focused enough to do anything long term, and meta has thus far done absolutely nothing but make wii avatars.

I also wonder if they’ll ‘unlock’ use of PSVR2 on PC after the first two years on console; it doesn’t need any proprietary cameras or tracking devices so it should work.

Yeah it’s def a cost saving thing, it’s just funny to me Valve figured it out like 3 years ago and Sony, who makes lots of headphones, just said eh let the user figure it out lol

Tunic and Deaths Door are great, it’s a shame they came out at the same time. Tunic has more challenging combat but Deaths Door is a better game to me.

Edit: if you hate needing to check every single blind corner for a possible door or item you won’t make it far in Tunic. It relies on this way too often.

How is CP2077 pathing, or whatever it's called, so loving bad? Any time you're in a car with an npc it moves at like 8mph and is animated like its an interns first unity project. I get that they didnt' want to expand the scope of the world to make that more realistic, but there has to be a trick to making it feel like you arent driving at walking speed.

What do you like playing on it? Once the novelty of ‘I can run pc games in bed’ wore off the realities of the low resolution screen and heft came thru and I haven’t picked it up in a while. Also like others have said the ergo kind of sucks rear end because of the giant touch pads.

Oh a whim I finally got a oled switch and it’s really nice. The small upgrade to the screen sounds very iterative but if you use it handheld mode at all I’d say it’s worth it.

Meta's pro headset is that expensive bc it's loaded with AR features that no other headset has, since it's for office workers. PSVR2 spec wise is looking like a slightly fancier Quest 2 that offloads rendering to a PS5. I'm a little concerned too but I still think there's no way it goes past Quest 2's recently bumped MSRP.

Totally forgot it didn’t need compute and battery on the device. I could see $499 minimum, except a duel sense with back paddles is $200, and this has two of em!

Because some games don’t have those buttons.

Full disclosure which will probably make it clearer why I rail so hard against some of this poo poo - I have a nervous system issue that fucks with my reflexes, and makes anything that involves consistent reaction timing and fine motor control of my individual fingers inconsistently achievable at best and basically impossible at their worst.

The proliferation of soulsbourne-style ‘git gud’ mechanics where you have to very carefully time dodges/parries/whatever with little to no consideration given to accessibility (a few games actually do a good job with this and are very playable - the Nier games in particular) in the single player space, where there’s absolutely zero reason to not give the player options to make the game as challenging (or not) as they’d like it to be since it’s only the player against the computer, often feels a lot like I’m being pushed out of one of my favourite hobbies.

People often throw “but what about all those people who beat soulsbourne titles on twitch using just their tongue and the GameCube bongo controller :smuggo:” at me when they hear that and to that I say I don’t give a gently caress how other people choose to spend their time to overcome whatever difficulties they may be facing in games, either self-imposed or otherwise; when I sit down to play games I just want to chill the gently caress out and play some games, not spend hours of my life learning to work around choices made by game developers aping the latest fad in masochism-as-gameplay just to try and enjoy something.

That out of the way I have started DQXI for the third time and I forgot again that the opening is entirely in my regional accent, which is painful to listen to.

Did they change the music for the definitive edition? I played it on the switch in 2D mode with the sound off so I have no idea what it sounded like.

Okay that’s a good reason to dislike parry/dodge. But you can create a Frankenstein controller and parry with your toes if you want  https://www.xbox.com/en-US/accessories/controllers/xbox-adaptive-controller

Maybe if someone with a disability didn’t realize these peripherals existed they might be interested in picking up an Xbox. The solution I proposed is developers just add a goddamn difficulty option.

Like I said, the onus currently feels like it’s unfairly on the player to work around systems developers have chosen to impose on them, despite the fact that theres absolutely no detriment to anybody at all if they added difficulty options to a single player game.

I’m not asking for them to give me a bunch of advantages in online play against other players, I just want to be able to play my offline single player games.

I hadn’t thought about a difficulty slider wrt iframes. That would be very interesting, but maybe not possible unless a game was completely designed around that idea. In any case I’m totally on board for such a thing!
