Yeah I feel bad for the people in the stores/phones who are stuck behind a garbage system. Naturally after dealing with web chat/phone call/reddit (wtf) support, the answer was 'go to a store and they will fix it'.

Having dealt with AT&T stores before, I know this answer was actually "Go to an AT&T store and they will set up a new order because it's completely separate and even if it wasn't there's zero incentive for the person who handles you to do it anyway because there's no commission for them". So now rather than my phone getting delivered on Friday and having the time to start it fresh and make sure everything is working, I now have to go into the store and give them my handset when picking up the new one and also hoping they haven't hosed up how much I'm due to pay because naturally I haven't had any emails confirming this yet.

I should've just stayed with my XR on a pre-paid agreement, ffs.

As one of those poor bastards dealing with it, the positive side is that since I have a quota, every time a customer calls upset that the website isn’t working right I literally say “oh that’s great, that keeps me employed I’ll get you set.”

Tbh, the systems I use are not bad at this point. There are really annoying things that they should be able to do but mess up, but I’ve used them so long I know almost every trick.

Btw, for everyone in general, in terms of from my perspective , the 14 launch is def not the same volume / pace / energy as the 13 was(not really surprising IMO). Last year was the first year the carriers did $800 trade ins (recently at least) and a LOT of people did them and now , surprise surplus, aren’t eligible this year.

Also no surprise, I get a lot of people wanting to buy the 14, but they got the iPhone 12 or whatever on a 30 month payment plan so it’s like “well, you have 8-10 months left and owed $500 still, did you want to pay that off to upgrade early?” Unsurprisingly the answer is usually no, although shiny new phone does make a few people do crazy things.

Also, already starting last year, the 13 Pro was noticeably picking up more orders than the regular 13. This year it’s like, no one buys the 14 during preorders. Expect good inventory of the 14, the Pro and Pro max are def the hot topic ones. Which is usually the case for preorder (early adopters), but even more so this year. I have had literally one 14+ preorder, the plus is gonna be a dud because anyone wanting the bigger phone will just get the max.

Obviously add in sections for screen protectors and AirPods since the thread ends up debating that more than talking about the actual phones anyway.

Some formatting when you get the time, and a current list of iPhones on offer, and maybe some honorable mentions from the refurb store.

Ha, I'm glad someone is benefitting from it at least! At 3pm I just got an email saying 'we couldn't verify this order was from you' despite the fact I ordered from my existing AT&T account I've had for years, they have all my contact details to tell me something is up etc. Unbelievable, but I'm glad my spidey senses kicked in before it was too late.

My Spigen for the 14 should be here tonight, I haven't got the handset yet but I can check that it's OK quality at least. I've had them before and been fine, and found it much better than the $40 otterbox than essentially broke down, got replaced, and did the exact same thing. Mixing material types did not work well for that model.

Spigen are great for good protection at a cheap price. They might not last years but also they’re a fraction of the price of Apple or Otterbox.

My wife and I ordered cases that said they were MagSafe compatible and we got them and they don’t have magnets so back they go. Hard to use these when the charging pads you have are the raised kind.

I'm a fan of Ringke and the occasional Merkury case, which I'm currently running. Otherwise: Spigen.

A good rule of thumb for apple products is 1) never buy the first version of any new product and 2) if there's any problems people will complain about them relentlessly so if you haven't heard anything negative about a product it is functional and good. no one talks about the leather cases that much because they are functional and good.

One yellowed one time but I figured buying another one seemed justified.

I've taken to using Otterbox Symmetry cases and really like them. They are very slim but have well thought out ridges around the cameras and screen to protect against drops.

They also often come in fun colors, as I noted in the previous thread:

I like the thinnest Spigen Liquid Crystal, which is the thinnest case that makes the camera bump go away so the phone doesn't slide around on surfaces like a bar of soap. I use it on an iPhone Excess but presumably they make one for the 14 also.

I've been thinking about Rhinoshield's Mod NX cause I can have a red band around the white iPhone and a clear back. Not sure though.

Also looking into dBrand's Grip case. Saw it in a video today and the Solstice looks really rad.

https://dbrand.com/shop/grip/iphone-14-pro-max-cases

I usually go with the standard Apple silicone but if they had a Product RED leather one, I'd 100% switch to that.

EDIT: Speaking of that, the case came in just now. It's a bit of a lighter red than the 13 Pro Max silicone case.

I had a product red leather case on my XS. Sold the phone and case to my brother when I got my 12 and the red is now basically black.

They do patina nicely with oil from your skin but they scratch easily and it doesn't heal well.
