In for HHL and LSL again. I can draft any night that isn't Thursday/Sunday, and even then I could probably make it happen depending on time.

For my HHL keepers I am thinking:
Robert Thomas: $1>$2 (first time keeper)
Jason Robertson: $2>$3 (second time keeper)
Lucas Raymond: $2>$3 (first time keeper)
Cale Makar: $85>$102 (first time keeper)
$110 total

Yeah that's why I'm keeping Makar at $102. Feels like a steal. He's gonna score 100 points from the blue line.

Given all the (somewhat surprising, dead forums etc) interest in fantasy hockey this year, in my hubris I've opened up another league: The Denis Lemieux Memorial League -- this is a more traditional scoring league (no hits/blocks). It's still H2H and it also has a neat little twist in that you can trade draft picks. This league also has no bench slots and just 3 waiver acquisitions per week, so it's much easier to set your lineup on a weekly basis.

I am in as Dude Where's Makar. Which would actually be a better name for my HHL team since I actually have Makar.

I think I'm ok with this. I feel like I kind of botched my first pick, I misinterpreted the stats Yahoo was showing me and assumed goalies were worth about half the scoring stats instead of 1/3 of them. I probably would've taken Makar or Kaprizov instead if I hadn't been a dummy. But I'm not too upset about it either. Having three goalie slots is interesting and I'm hoping Shesterkin + 2 solid platoon goalies should be ok. Other than that I went for PP guys, volume shooters, promising youngsters, and faceoff wins. Kind of punting PIM but if I could pick up a guy who could rack up a bit more than average I went for him.

I really didn't go into this one with a plan and I ended up with a lot of guys on the same teams. Boston forwards and Colorado defense, basically, plus Florida's goaltending. I wasn't trying to be a homer either but all those Boston players felt too cheap to pass up. Rakell and Drysdale I didn't actually want that much, but got at the "nominate and hope someone else takes them" stage of the draft, but they're not the worst players to have. Overall I'm pretty pleased. I think I could have done better but my keepers really help to buoy me here. When everyone is healthy this could be a very good team. I was shocked more people didn't push for McAvoy. He's out until November but he's insanely productive for this format (37th overall in 2021-22) and a great keeper option at just $16.

1. (10) Sergei Bobrovsky (Fla - G) $78
2. (33) Patrice Bergeron (Bos - C) $70
3. (38) David Pastrnak (Bos - RW) $81
4. (61) Nick Suzuki (Mon - C) $30
5. (77) Spencer Knight (Fla - G) $47
6. (78) Brad Marchand (Bos - LW) $31
7. (89) Juraj Slafkovsky (Mon - LW) $5
8. (101) Bowen Byram (Col - D) $11
9. (117) Charlie McAvoy (Bos - D) $16
10. (121) John Gibson (Anh - G) $9
11. (163) Josh Manson (Col - D) $2
12. (187) Rickard Rakell (Pit - LW,RW) $1
13. (199) Jamie Drysdale (Anh - D) $1

I thought about taking Wilson too but I already have McAvoy and Marchand stashed on LTIR, and Wilson isn't going to be back until late December at the earliest, from what I've been reading. He could be big though in that back half of the season. Good $1 bet

I tried the Athletic's fantasy model thing in a couple of leagues last year and they were invariably the worst teams I've had. This year I went all in on Gut Feelings. We'll see which way is really better.

Made my first big brain move of the season. Sat John Gibson (with no alternative going in) who has allowed like 5 goals a night for the past 4 games, against Boston, who has scored 5+ goals almost every game. So naturally Gibson has only allowed 1 on 33 with minutes to go in the 3rd

I knew I was taking a risk when I went with Gibson in HHL because the Ducks suck, but I didn't think that he would also suck this bad.

HHL my team is in dead last even though I think it looks good on paper. I have had a few players who had really rough weeks. All my goalies have awful stats that don't really seem sustainable at all. Hopefully I'll start doing better when they regress towards the mean.

LSL is also last but the team is half autodrafted, so not a surprise I guess. I think this team is going to be my worst one in the end.

Doing alright in DLML (4th). With the simplified scoring format I don't really have any weak links.

My LSL team was already struggling, half the team was auto-drafted, but both Jake Oettinger and Jeremy Swayman getting injured feels like a death sentence. My goaltending is now the backups for Ottawa and Vancouver.

I continue to believe that my HHL team SHOULD be very good, despite the fact that its still 15th of 16. I should probably cut some of these guys loose, but next week will be the week they turn it around I bet.

Man I'm at a real loss about what to do with my goaltending in HHL. Spencer Knight has been good, Bobrovsky is having a disaster season, and John Gibson is Jekyll and Hyde. Last night he has. 1.88 GAA, 39 save, .951. The game before that he allowed 5 on 19 shots for a slick 6.87 GAA/.737 sv%. It's been that way the entire season because the Ducks are awful.

I picked up Schmid but I don't think he's a long term solution/he won't get enough starts.

Maybe someone wants to trade? I have a lot of offensively-oriented players. Two of the top 5 scorers (Robertson, Pastrnak), Cale Makar, Suzuki, etc. I also have Marchand, Bergeron, and McAvoy and while it's nice to have so many players from the top team when the Bruins are rolling, it can be bad when they have a light week or aren't scoring. Too many eggs in one basket. So I'd be open to moving one or two of them as well if the right deal came along.

My HHL goalies suck poo poo. Basically all I can do is hope they collectively win one category. Getting Bobrovsky and Knight seemed like such a good idea at the draft too lol

My skaters have been great though. It's a pretty solid group now that it's healthy.

I'm just going to keep running the same team I think. I'm in 12th in HHL but the difference between 12th and 8th is only 13 points, so maybe I get lucky the last few weeks. I think my team could have been good this year (I have the entire Perfection Line, Robertson, and Makar, among others) but goaltending sunk me so bad. I figured Florida's goaltending would be reliable. I didn't think Florida would be as good as they were last year, but I didn't think they'd be this bad either. Ditto John Gibson. I didn't think the Ducks would be great, but I didn't think they'd be this abysmal either, and he's usually done halfway decent on bad teams. Didn't work out!!

LSL my team has been better lately but still bad. Having to leave the draft early in this one sucks. I guess I underestimated how valuable the depth/later round picks are.

1st place in DLML so no complaints with that squad.

I missed the playoffs in HHL because I believed in my team and they didn't deliver. I have a new appreciation for bad GMs around the league now.

Not sure what I'm going to do about keepers. I can't keep Robertson anymore, I could keep Makar again but he'd be like $120+ so I probably won't, and I don't think I'm going to keep Robert Thomas again. I honestly think I might keep Pastrnak, Marchand, and McAvoy. I am really trying not to be a homer, but at the draft they only cost me $81, $31, and $16, respectively and those are really good prices for for players who are currently ranked 5th, 48th, and 94th in this league's format even with 20% added on top. Especially when you consider that Marchand and McAvoy missed a lot of time due to injury.

My last choice comes down to a bunch of players for a bunch of different reasons:
Akira Schmid - $1 pick up. It depends what happens with the Devils goalies I guess
Mason McTavish - $3 pick up. One of the few bright spots on a really bad Ducks team and I think he could really break out next year with Zegras + if they get Bedard or Fantilli
Nick Suzuki - $30 drafted. He's pretty good at everything and he's relatively cheap. Montreal might also get one of the big name rookies and Suzuki + Caufield are probably only going to get better
Bowen Byram - $4 drafted. He gets hurt a lot but when he's playing he's really loving good
Rickard Rakell - $1 drafted. Not much to say really, he's perfectly adequate 20 goal/50 point guy who hits, and $1 is a good deal
Patrice Bergeron - $70 drafted. Comedy option if he doesn't retire and I want to lean into the Bruins thing. He's still a top 20 player in this format somehow.

May the Bruins and Devils get eliminated in April. :gonchar:

Kind of silly that the tiebreaker came down to the week 10 matchup.

I would've had one more assist and won outright if a Pastrnak to Orlov goal hadn't been called offsides earlier today. That was a close one though!
