Literally making remasters of last gen games is like, no loving wonder the PS5 has 5 exclusives lol.

"remake" to me implies reviving something old and haggard and giving it a fresh coat of paint, this is literally just porting HZD to the updated HFW engine with some upscaled textures and is absolutely not worth the title nor money for anyone who already bought the thing

i'm not a "graphics don't matter" guy but, at the same time, this poo poo is basically a placebo upgrade, and i could practically guarantee that people wouldn't be able to guess a blind HZD vs. "remastered" version test at anything better than chance

Idk if looking at Sony floundering atm is enough proof that multi platform inherently loses money, regardless of which I will admit I do not and cannot care about the economics, all I see is more games being made available to me and other “gamers”, and this is good, because video games are art.

the relevant point is that the economics of having to appeal to a broader cross-section of consumers to justify the multi-platform model means that there's a higher potential for said art to get diluted or shorn of risk, since you have to make the game hit big on each individual platform for the economics of multi-platform development and marketing to make sense

there's obviously a good amount of overlap in preferences amongst platforms, but you still have to reckon with the fact that the kind of games a switch owner favors are likely going to be different than an xbox or PS5 owner, and the constraints of each platform (in terms of available horsepower, what kind of input methods you have available, etc.) will necessarily limit your overall design

even if it were the case i doubt it would change recommendations much, because it's not like any other pain drug on the market has a better safety profile than acetaminophen, and telling pregnant mothers "just grin and bear it" isn't really a sustainable healthcare strategy

i think the more common differentiation comes from social dimensions - ADHD kids tend to be excessively social to a point other kids find overwhelming, whereas autistic kids are withdrawn and aloof - and that ADHD usually hews more to externalizing rather than internalizing (re: anxiety/depression), but it's a muddy field to wade through and is rarely so cut and dry

initial scorn impression: it's very solid for what it is, which is a walking sim with occasional puzzles and some light gunplay. the real star of the show is, of course, the environment, which is an incredible fusion of geiger's biomechanical style and beksinski's monolithic nightmare landscapes, and this is all heightened by them relying entirely on environmental storytelling without a single bit of dialogue or text logs to guide you along. this does occasionally lead to some "what the gently caress am i supposed to do" moments, but it's linear enough of an experience that you're not expected to dramatically backtrack or rely on distant elements to solve the self-contained puzzles

if you want a spooky halloween title, definitely pick this one up

yeah, i would definitely recommend it for gamepass - it's solid for what it is, but it's mostly a very pretty romp without a ton of gameplay as-is to speak of. the middle section of the game is the part that i think got the most polish and refinement, since it's what got shown in all the trailers, but it's also the only stretch of real "gameplay" as such aside from a single (frankly kinda bad) boss near the end

it's also a game that feels almost deliberately designed to be so obscuritan that only youtube lore channels will have anything approaching a clear picture of what's going on, possibly to generate more interest in the game in the long term

That's sorta a bummer in a way cause it looked like it had been presented as H.R. Giger Does Doom

most of the trailers, at least from like 2020 onwards, showcased the gunplay as being very slow compared to an average FPS, and that made its way into the main game. it's mostly more about tactical resource management, although you'll generally have enough ammo to blast through probably 90% of the things in the game without issue

i get the impression that they'd planned to do more with it before they ran out of money and time, as the gunplay feels weirdly vestigial with the overall length of the game. you get your 4th weapon very late in the game and only use it to solve a couple puzzles and on a single enemy
