There's nothing wrong with drinking wine at a tailgate. The outlier is the wine glass. You drink that poo poo out of a solo cup just like all of the other degenerates.

CRUSTY MINGE posted:When did this happen? Back in '04-05 they were "rationing" booze, specifically hard liquor from the Class 6. It was sometimes adhered to, depending on the size of the post and management or just the day of the week. Those places were laughable though. One time they had cases of Paulaner Oktoberfest (one liter bottles) for $8.38 a case. They didn't check my ration card so I loaded up a hand cart with about 5 cases. Then there was the time they left a digit off of Johnny Walker Blue. Nothing like a $200 bottle for $20. Word got out, they sold out in a day.

In WA where Costco is based their upper management utterly hates the state liquor board and spent like $15 million on a successful ballot issue to get hard liquor sales legalized in grocery stores. It went way beyond business justifications I think their usually rational CEO had been obsessed with it for decades. It was interesting the other side of the campaign wasn’t anti-booze folks but beer companies that knew liquor availability would hurt their sales.

Hell one of my classmates (and who is actually Catholic as opposed to me) was watching college football during the ceremony. Also don’t ever try to keep up with the drinking at an Irish wedding or then at the party after the wedding (and before). Awesome time though and no people being gross or shitheads.

I don't remember ration cards for booze, but it's a big base and they had just opened a new PX when I got there. They had a really decent commissary. I remember getting good steaks for cheap as hell. E: the 3L jack bottle was $65~ back then. Can't even sell it in the states, since there's a federal limit on spirits bottle sizes at 1.75L.

I bet the Hump had so much volume that they never bothered tracking it. My place was so small, some of our party "supply missions" may have triggered something in their inventory system. At one point they were scanning our IDs. Korea was a strange time.

The beer, liquor, cigarette, and meat monthly rations were to prevent black market reselling of VAT exempt things bought on post. Korea in 2019 - 2020 had the ration card tied to the CAC or retiree card, you just scan it on checkout. I don't know about retirees, but active duty service members could buy more than their ration, but their chain of command would be notified. The beer and cigarette rations were ridiculously high, liquor was 3 "units" a month. An airline bottle was 1/12th of a unit, 750ml-1L was 1 unit, and a handle was 2 units.

Trump's SCOTUS appeal seems to be targeted at procedural issues rather than the merits. Regardless, I don't think he's got anyone other than Thomas and Alito on his side. Thomas can unilaterally deny the request, but he cannot grant it himself. In other Trump litigation news, the 11th circuit has been asked to hear the appeal on the entire special master order on an expedited basis because they need to use the rest of the documents in conjunction with the classified stuff as a part of the criminal case.
