I gotta respect the niche these women have filled. Apparently there is a market of men who would like to stare at a half-nude women for hours at a time, maybe for the chance of seeing a nip? Even though there is porn literally clicks away at any moment? Well I certainly don't get it, but that is pure entrepreneurship.

thankfully 99.99999% of d&d games are not like that. its usually just 5-6 people sitting around a table being put into puzzling situations and having fun solving them, usually in hilarious ways. you get the powergamer and the fake accent players, but its rare, not the norm. everyone is playing to have a good time, and that usually means humor is heavily involved

Not sure what you're disagreeing with in his post, but my reading of it is he's saying that the interactive nature of streaming absolutely creates an environment much more ripe for parasocial fixation than any other medium, and I can't find fault with that idea. I don't really understand why people are jumping on him it seems like a pretty obvious point.

I like the impassioned post buddy, but acting like sportswatchers and pop culture consumers dont insert themselves into the fiction is crazy. How many times you hear sports nerds talking about "our team" and the players as their friends; or people acting like bad starwar movie is a personal attack on their childhood. Suddenly a niche d&d stream is the height of parasocialism... how?

I'm not saying that sportsball losers who get pissed and wreck their man caves when their team loses aren't dumbasses too, because they are, but I'm talking about the performers/streamers, not the viewers

Maybe we're talking past each other here but it's like "wait, did you not see the video? with the terrible acting and fake heartwrench? the horrible, awful, awful video?" [pointing at video on the screen]

You said they were talented, and if there's one thing they're talented at (certainly it's not acting or writing) it's being able to get eyes on their stream from people who are those same "it ruined my childhood" Star Wars fans

Getting eyes on you is a talent, but they're all actors or voice actors; Ashley Johnson is kind of a prolific actress https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0424534/

"The people who are all successful actors/voice actors who have an unbelievably successful Twitch channel are all talentless and nothing they do has value to anyone but deeply broken people who probably want to gently caress/marry/kill them" is a pretty good take.
