The better overall point imo is that the entirety of the nfl has demonstrated they simply care about football over morality, whether it’s criminal acts or long term health.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but someone pointed out that in boxing (boxing!) when a guy goes down like that he's probably not getting a license to fight in most states for at least 6 months and that kinda struck me as...very ironically amusing I suppose.

Once you get past the Indian casino fight level guys are fighting two or three times a year so a 30-60 day medical suspension isn’t the end of the world.

The rules also let a guy get back up after being clearly concussed and continue to get hit in the head until they get concussed either worse or the match ends.

Commissions don’t want a guy literally dying in the ring but I wouldn’t say they take concussions seriously. They’ll continue to license guys long after they’re obviously punch drunk and their resistance is gone.

Yea, I just you’re being fooled if you think boxing commissions take fighter health any more seriously than the NFL takes player health.

Neither of those two teams is touching the Chiefs in the West, even if Herbet gets healthy.

The Broncos should uh, should probably trade for a qb.

Youre right. You go into combat sports knowing no one gives a gently caress about your brain or health.

But

I would argue that commissions not giving you a licence after you get knocked out for a good long stretch puts them in a better position from a duty of care stand point than putting you back on the field a week later.

God, I'm so tired. What the hell did I post last night?
Chargers are seriously makin' me sad with their performance. I love their players and the energy they have, and it is NOT translating onto the field, whether it's because of coaching or injuries or what I don't know. I thought they had a coach with a good reputation, too, and it sure hasn't looked like it. Karma for their owner being Dean Spanos, that idiot rear end in a top hat? I hope not. They should be a lot more fun than they are.

At least they have a bye week coming up soonish. And ultimately a win's a win, but geez. I expected the Vikings to have a rough year due to the new coach; the Chargers were supposed to be more ready than that.

Yeah the point is that it’s weird to clamber up on one’s high horse and snipe at Dolphins fans about it. Brate got knocked out again immediately after being cleared from the concussion protocols but no one seemed to question whether the Bucs brought him back too fast. Both the teams and the players for all of the organizations try to get people back on the field as fast as possible and this act that portrays the Dolphins as uniquely terrible for it isn’t doing anyone any favors.

It’s pretty rare for a suspension to be longer than 60 days and camps are usually 8 weeks anyway so in practical terms it only matters for guys who are trying to fight way more often than they probably should be even without head trauma.

And you have to try pretty drat hard to not get licensed somewhere no matter how many times you’ve been knocked out. Roy Jones Junior was still getting fights at almost 50.

My favorite part of tonight's game was when the Broncos got a decent play on a designed Wilson run, so they ran it again and it worked one more time, and then they ran it again almost immediately and it failed, and then they never did it again.

Promote the DC to head coach and fire Paton and Hackett with a loving text.

One way of looking at it is the Chargers are injured and after next week vs the Seahawks is their bye. Herbert starts feeling better and they get some players back and go on a nice run.

But on the other hand they are mediocre not good right now and that game was putrid.

Denver was like in Mortal Kombat where dude is just swaying around waiting to be finished off and the Chargers kept loving it up over and over and ended up doing a low light kick that kind of knocked them over instead of ripping out their heart and eating it.
