It's time again for DDT's round robin tournament!

Overview from the Dramatic DDT Blog

quote:

Every entrant is under the age of 40 because DDT is currently building up their younger roster. The format is a two block round robin with the winners of each group meeting in the final. Both blocks contain 6 wrestlers so everybody will compete in 5 matches, each with a 30 minute time limit. The final itself has no time limit. Wins are worth 2 points and draws (time limit or double knockout) are worth 1 point. 0 points will go toward losses, double countouts and any match that is ruled a No Contest or gets cancelled because both wrestlers are unable to compete. In the case of ties for first place, the match result between the wrestlers involved will be used as the tiebreaker. Kenta Kobashi remains in his role as the chairman of the tournament committee.

Rules

quote:

The matches are fought to one fall with a 30 minutes time limit. The final has no time limit.
The participants are divided into two blocks, A and B, and fight in a round-robin using a points system; two points for a victory, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss.
The winners from the two blocks go on to fight in the final to decide the D-Oh Grand Prix winner.
The D-Oh Grand Prix winner, assuming they do not already hold the KO-D Openweight Championship, obtain first contendership to the title and receive a title shot.

A Block Guide

Tetsuya Endo

quote:

As the lead guy in Jun Akiyama's Burning stable Endo is DDT's traditional Japanese puro blue chipper. Still only 31, Endo is incredibly talented but for the last 6 months or so has been on the back foot with a streak of bad luck and major losses, most notably getting shoot knocked out by NOAH's Katsuhiko Nakajima at Cyberfight Festival 2022, having the DDT Pro Wrestling KO-D Openweight Title stripped from due to injury, and then was unable to regain it from Kazusada Higuchi, finally he was forced to miss a show last week due to a sprained ankle.

Press Conference Comments: "Sorry for missing the 30th. I won't give up on winning even with an injury. Practice and daily workout is important. I can say with my experience and daily training that I'll win this for sure." " I'm most aware of Ueno in the first round. He's a champion too. We last fought in May but our stances have changed." "Did you know Sasaki and I were in the same unit until last year?? " "I want to fight EVERYONE!" "I've went to the doctors and it's a little sprain, (his left ankle) I'm sure it'll be fine by the tournament. I don't think it matters if I'm champion right now. Or in a tournament. But there can only be 1 winner. Everyone wants to be it. It doesn't matter champion or not. I want to get my first win."
