There's a little link that says "Hide XX Posts" (or "Show XX Posts" if you've got them hidden) that seems like it collapses threads like that to the OP and a couple of the latest replies.

things it badly needs: 1) push notifications. be it web notifications or an app 2) public followers lists 3) some kind of way to see active/popular posts. I know this gets into “algorithm” territory, but right now discoverability isn’t great. 4) better mobile layout. right now I get a full screen of menu when I want to see more posts. 5) public API

also the difference between between reply and comment isn't really clear. they seem to serve the same purpose, but comments aren't nearly as visible and there's no obvious way to see that there are new ones beyond the notifications page, which sucks

I’ve been on cohost a little while https://cohost.org/silveralicorn idk I’m sorta still figuring out where my online brand is and how/what I want to post. I don’t post pandas on this account. when I get around to actual hobby stuff I will probably post there. also I have and will post (sfw) furry stuff on there so maybe keep away if that’s not your thing

I think it needs a lot of work, but I hope they keep the “ugly beautiful” early web2.0 aesthetic. I’m also forgiving them a lot for “just” using some common flavor of markdown for styling.
