No, it's his money that's on the line here for the most part. Some of it is the banks' money, but a lot of it is his. He's just a moron and I think he thought that he could weasel out of buying the company, and when that didn't work, he clearly came into Twitter with no real plan other than 'find ways to make more money'.

As long as Musk continues his highly public and vocal rightward turn, he's going to push away both potential and existing Tesla drivers into the arms of his competitors, and most of those customers aren't going to come back even if Tesla is severed from Musk.

e: More data: According to this report, Tesla's market share of EV sales has dropped from 75% in Q1 of this year to 64% in Q3, with Ford, GM, and Hyundai sales rising rapidly. Tesla is still on top but is losing ground, and the absolute last thing it needs is Elon making the brand toxic to potential buyers.

Tesla is absolutely hosed long-term. Their only advantage thus far has been EVs as status symbols, but the big boys in the auto industry are coming for Tesla in the next year or two, and it's going to be impossible for Tesla to complete directly with giants like Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Ford, etc.

I don't know what you can really do about it. If he refuses to pay things, he'll probably end up in court. Then he'll either pay a settlement or just start endless litigation to bury his opponents in legal costs (which is what Trump loved to do all the time).

What I don't know is how much of Musk's assets are liquid. It seems like the vast majority of his wealth is tied to Tesla stock, which has been in a nosedive for like two months plus now. If he doesn't have a ton of liquid assets then it's harder for him to just keep paying lawyers to make his problems go away.
