Because he's never coached in any serious capacity before and he got elevated to head coach out of nowhere. But he beat the Raiders so I think the doubters have been sufficiently put in their collective places.

i mean...gently caress tradition? if irsay thinks saturday can reclaim the trust of the players, that's more than half the battle right there. i don't know, i definitely like it when players become coaches. whenever it happens, seems like the current players gain respect and what not. as long as the coordinators are halfway decent, and the coach can harness the locker room, go for it. and it's like his team? he can do whatever the hell he wants. not sure this move warranted such a negative response.

It's weird it took them this long to play in Germany. The German teams in NFL Europe had the most success with fans, to the point that the final year in the league the teams were all in Germany (maybe 1 in Belgium? Same difference). The only other successful team was the London team.
