I've used Vortex for other games, but for some reason it never worked for me with Darktide. Like everything would look fine in Vortex but when I load up the game, no mods active. I just install them manually, it's a pretty simple process.

I use Vortex, but manually installing is super easy for Darktide, so it's unnecessary

To use mods on linux you have to build the DT mod enabler project from GitHub yourself to get a bash script version of the patcher.

What are you all using to install mods? I know I'm just a big ol' dummy but Vortex seems to be poorly implemented with this game. I can explain the steps I took if anyone wants but it seems like it would legit be easier to do the manual installation method since Vortex isn't managing my mod load order anyway and I have to manually write the mod names into the load file.

vortex has a checkbox system that lets you add things to the load order

Select Darktide > Load Order > check all the boxes

just make sure that animation_events is somewhere below scoreboard in order

you can always make use of the 'tide discord. At least doing it is a lot easier now with the recent buff to brain buff, it feels like it goes way faster.

Someone tell me to stop using assail in auric. I know it's the bad, or at least the least good, blitz but goddamn I love hearing the little SHICK SHICK SHICK of it flying through a horde of ragers, poxwalkers, or shotgunner heads.

 I think assail is useful as long as you are using it with any of the buffs available to psyker like warp damage on crit, warp damage on non warp, warp charges, destiny stacks. I wouldn't be dry throwing them as a basic move but they are as good as any other gun you spray at hordes. Helpful when your team needs it, but don't play 'guy who never uses melee'.

In my opinion, it's perfectly fine and it's what I run for all of my Psyker builds. Just dump them all into hordes and then switch back to your staff/melee. Rinse and repeat.

That's not jolly at all!
Assail itself is fine, but my problem with it is its position in the Psyker talent tree. Choosing it locks you out of Psychinetic's Aura, which reduces the cooldown on your team's abilities by 5% for each Elite/Specialist kill. On Auric missions this can drastically reduce the effective cooldown on everyone's abilities.

Evil Kit

Assail is a tool that has a use. Unfortunately, one of those uses is propping up newbie psykers in lower difficulties and creating very bad habits. If you know what you're doing and what situations to actually use assail it's fine imo, but yeah it locks you out of Psykinetic's Aura which is kind of a big deal. Hope you like Mind in Motion ig

yep its crazy to pass on that talent lol, especially for gunpsyker since scrier isn't just for damage but where your tank comes from

I know assail itself is fine it's just suboptimal. I guess it's just my "regular damnation" non-tryhard loadout, if I'm doing auric or need to carry I'll switch to fire trauma or purgatus. Missing Psykinetic's Aura does suck rear end, it's like a second full-powered augmented aura.

I still prefer the crucis personally cause I'm not a huge fan of middle grounds and I've got too much muscle memory in the mk2. Also the heavy spam is just relaxing.

That said I saw a competent pubbie do work with what I'm pretty sure was the Ironhelm so honestly may just need to let go of maximum big bonk

I'm loving this pistol on my Fury/Piety zealot. Good for the frantic playstyle of hot swapping to peg an elite/specialist using hip fire.

And I got another plasma gun today that competes with the one I have but I'm not sure which is better the first is the one I'm using and is locked already.

I actively dislike blaze away but if you dig it I'm gonna set that aside from my analysis for now.

The second Plasma looks way better, being able to set both your Perks means you can do some min-max breakpoint poo poo and the extra 10 points of Stopping Power alone will probably let you hit some breakpoints you didn't before already. My advice would be to take both into the psykanium as they are and check breakpoints for each, with a focus on potentially one-shotting both shotgunners using normal shots.

the lower charge rate sucks a bit but fwiw I think the higher stopping power and ability to customize your perks to exactly what you want is just hands down better overall.

For the second plasma the perks you'll want to try out after testing are +Flak +Elite, +Flak +Maniac, +Flak + Unarmored, +Unarmored + Elite. The unarmored is for dreg gunners specifically, with the +Unarmored +Elite combo for also hitting breakpoints on other elite types still. +Flak +Elite on my current plasma lets me one shot both shotgunners, but my Stopping Power is lower than yours and I think if it had rolled higher I wouldn't need the +elite to kill both, just the +flak.

See what works best for you!

I rapid fire it alot at times so blaze away works good for my style. But yeah I was leaning towards being able to define both perks + more stopping power being the better choice and I don't think the lower charge would hurt me too much cause I mainly just charge lmb shots.

Just an aside both of those plasma guns I got from Melk, and they are also the only two guns I've ever kept from him, everything else was just blessings.

People are down on Melk but it's all probability, I've gotten some legit weapons from him as well.

Blaze Away sucks on Plasma, you barely get stacks and even a fraction of a second of hesitation loses you all your stacks. Gotta vent heat? Bye bye stacks. As a plasma vet main, it's bad imo. Sure you could reload to reset your heat instead and keep 5 stacks, but lol at reloading every 5 shots with plasma. Gets Hot! crits are all you really need to randomly delete stuff instead of maybe 10-30% power for single shots maybe getting you a breakpoint. Fine for crusher patrols and monsters if you don't want to aim for weakspots, basically a nothing blessing for most everything else cause you're overkilling it anyway.

I am however a big fan of consistency in bonuses from blessings so it's more personal taste.

No idea why this mad me laugh so ridiculously hard but thank you.

So my vet finally got a 379 grey Col Infantry Gun and … now I see why everyone loves it. Definitely takes some getting used to for long range shots but Jesus with no + perks for carapace it still kicks the bollocks of maulers. Like I figured it would perform like my mark 7 recon las but nope… melts them. Aimed fire has kick but still decent but the hip fire is just amazing. Good amount of ammo even with 73% ammo (my low stat) and the reload is also amazing. I just never realised how hard I was making it for myself by not giving this weapon a go. My blessings are only level 3 but I did mange to get dum dum natural roll. What are good perks for this gun? I figure one perk and one blessing ought to fix it.

Now to get an Agrippa braced to try.

My favorite build for the past week has been a col braced rifle with all of the grenade perfs with smoke grenades. Pick where you want your cover to be, throw a grenade, and sprint/slide until you get there. Funny as hell as the AI has no idea what to do and just lets you light them up. Also rocking the sapper shovel which is great for assisting other melees, but not so great if you end up by yourself.

Okay, I see why the blastdoom grenade launcher is so important for melee Ogryns in Auric Maelstroms. You really need the ability to snipe *squinting* that guy waaaaaaay over there then immediately that other guy 90° to the left NOW or we're are gonna wipe.

I love the Kickback for normal Damnation, but Maelstrom feels like a very different game where you're getting jumped from every weird direction by specialists and elites who don't actually need to close on you to kill you.

I never run it but that's just because I don't like it's mechanics, when I see people use it it does seem solid. I typically run the Kickback on the harder modifier sets but I do have whatever the blessing is which adds crit stacks when ADSing, I find that lets me handle longer ranges well enough.

When I join into a lobby where I can still swap weapons if I see a Vet with ammo back I like to run the rumbler for a fun change but I find it's too ammo inefficient without that ammo source to feed it.

Sometimes I'll run the Gorgonum but never into Nurgle's Blessing maps.
