A thread for fans of American football that very casually follow the other kind of football the rest of the world seems to enjoy much more than our Yankee gladiatorial bloodsport. Or for fans of The Beautiful Game to come and educate us uncivilized folk. Or (looks around TRP) shitposting in general, it looks like.

I do enjoy the World Cup and its pomps and am looking forward to watching it the next several weeks. Other than watching Team 'Murica, anything I or any other World Cup rubberneckers should pay attention to?

Also please go hog wild on making fun of gridiron football, Lord knows it deserves it, but do yourself a favor and don't call it "handegg," that's embarrassing as gently caress for you

I have appreciated the U.S. getting knocked out by the likes of Ghana. I mean, I'd rather the US won, but if the US is going to lose it's better than to a boring team like Belgium

Speaking as the guy who supports the team with two usmnt stars in the starting 11, a loud American jerk as manager and the San Francisco 49ers having enough of an ownership stake that they make money but not enough that they have to actually do anything, how bout them grids

Earnestly, there are a lot of tactical decisions being made by coaches and players on the field that are happening in real time, so while it might look chaotic, you should be able after a few games to discern the patterns.

Just keep thinking triangles and you’ll be fine.

After some very brief research, it seems like he's got the personality of Baker Mayfield but the talent of Kyler Murray

If you're just looking for "best gridiron player ever" uhh probably this guy, unfortunately

baker is probably accurate: a guy with some talent that has never lived up to his potential or the hype levels and can't get on the field

But Tom Brady is the best player of all time and LeBron is the second best player of all time so... Peyton Manning/Aaron Rodgers?

I think the gridiron Pulisic should be a non-American but never mind

Which footballers do you think would be good at gridiron? Here's my list
Akinfenwa
Lukaku
Jozy
The goalkeeper who got banned for eating a pie
Rory Delap
Messi (skill easily translates to other sports)

Keep at it.
Haaland seems like the obvious answer at the moment. I think it’s easy to forget just how big everyone is in american football.

Ronaldo would have made a good receiver.

Bonucci would play QB and every play he’d get sacked or bomb it deep.

Just imagine how dirty Kyle walker would play. Kind of guy who’d poke your eyes in the pile for sure.
