Black Gold!

Not much needs to be said of the man that hasn't already been said since his death in 1994. Only that he brought us many years of laughter and joy, and it still hurts that he's gone. Post your favorite John Candy stuff here and let's celebrate his life together.

Thanksgiving is coming up in the U.S., and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a must watch. No matter how many times i've seen it and know that it's coming up, "YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!" skeleton Neal and Del followed by Devil Del laughing maniacally makes me laugh until I cry.

Also, eating The Old 96er in The Great Outdoors. His facial expressions when he realizes he has to eat the gristle and fat to complete the challenge without saying a single word is a comedic best.

One was a junkie, the other one was a family man who had an unfortunate taste for ham.

John Candy is a fuckin comedy legend and genius, along with being a legit amazing actor.

Farley is funny for sure, but it's because he just has this manic energy he always brings. Not even half the talent of Candy.

Sorry I was just being facetious. PT&A is one of my favorite movies and I’ve seen it many times :tipshat:

Whenever I watch him in Uncle Buck, specifically the scene with Macaulay Culkin asking rapid fire questions, I'm reminded of just how good his comedic timing was. Subtle perfection.

Iirc his lines in home alone were improved and it's funny as hell.

He was always my favourite actor as a kid.

If he wasn't in the film the scenes with the mom just trying to get home would honestly bring the film down.

O'hara and Candy were part of SCTV so they already knew how to play off each other. They're really good on that show. Definitely check out some YouTube clips.

It's a real shame he never got to do more dramatic roles.

He was an absolute stand-out in JFK and that's no small feat, that movie might have the most insanely stacked ensemble cast ever.

THE TAXES! THE FINGER THING MEANS THE TAXES!

John Candy died when I was eight but he had an incredible presence in my early childhood. His role as the Cubs announcer in Rookie of the Year is underrated. You don't hear it in the scene but I love a homer announcer just losing it in the booth for his guy on the field screaming "GOOOOO!!!"

It is guaranteed to be lazy, ignorant, and/or uninformed.
Planes , Trains, and Automobiles may be one of the funniest movies ever made. Like that movie still makes me almost cry laughing especially the scene where he turns into the devil.

IT *BZZT* WASP ME--
IT WASP ME ALL *BZZT* ALONG!

John Candy was amazing: he was slapstick funny, righteous angry funny, scummy funny and he always had this charming quality of humility that he could bring.
I don't get how people mix him with Chris Farley who was mostly just manic in the most outrageous way.

Also on a personal level: Candy was a whole lot more stable, Farley was set to destroy himself like Balushi but John Candy could have had many more years if not for persistent health issues.
