 I know a handful of people continued on to Dragon Quest 2 after beating 1 for Game Club and I've been running through the series over the last couple years, getting freshly obsessed about a month and a half ago when I got back to 6 after a break, so I thought we could use a thread for the series. I've been going through the series in order off-and-on since 2020, starting with the first one; I just finished 7 the other day and am early in 8 where I've just met Jessica and did her quest in the tower, hoping she joins the party soon but I just made it to the port town after that part so we'll see. I've also got a bunch of spin-offs on-deck, still need to finish Builders 2 at some point (and will probably replay DQ2 beforehand even though there doesn't seem to be too much of a plot connection aside from a shared bad guy organization and whatever's going on with Malroth) and I've got both of the musou games as well as a bunch of the Monsters games and Rocket Slime loaded on my Steam Deck's emulators. I'm fully expecting this Dragon Quest project to last well into next year.

Dragon Quest ftmfw. I played through 4-6 on DS last summer, and then started 9 but never beat it. Playing 1 for game club got me back in the spirit, I’m going through 2 now and I feel like starting new runs of 7 (which I never beat) and 8 (which I haven’t played in quite a while)

Treasures comes out in like a week or two and I'll probably be nabbing it Day 1 because I'm a sucker for 3d platforming and marrying it with monster catching and DQ mechanics is pretty much laser focused to appeal to me.

I also played 3 on the gameboy color but I mashed through the menus that the priests’ “surely you jest!” Line when you try to rez someone who isn’t dead is burned into my brain

I've only played the first due to IZGC. Got a ton of long games in progress so I'm hesitant to pick up another one but I'm gonna be starting DQ2 as soon as I finish one. First game rules and I'm excited since imps speak so highly of the series

I've played and beaten most of them including most of the spin offs even the ones that are terrible english fantranslations, except 10 which apparently will never be released here even though there is an offline version. gently caress YOU SQUARE ENIX!!!
