The Port Charlotte 10y heavily peated malt from Bruichladdich is probably the best whisky experience I've had. Much superior to Laphroaig which just stinks of TCP. I think the price has risen for most malts in recent years simply down to demand outstripping supply, most distilleries just aren't able to scale up their production to meet global market needs. Except maybe Jonnie Walker, who somehow convinced dumb Americans that they're a premium brand.

We get all the same lovely papers and propaganda in Scotland, but somehow I feel that the level of insane tory brainworms are distinctly less here. Maybe it gets channelled into Scottish Nationalism or something, I dunno, but at least it doesn't seem manifest as readily as the "gas the scroungers/send em back/hang those who bum the poppy" rhetoric you see in the media south of the border. We took our cat in as a stray (well pretty sure she was a stray as you could see her ribs and pelvis). She's very sweet friendly but every few nights she'll wake up, start howling mournfully, and then come charging into our room and immediately calm down. I'm convinced she's having a nightmare of her time on the streets or her previous owner.

Mine does that when I'm cooking, Well she's old so she scrambles up my back with claws out so it hurts like hell and is a horrible surprise when you're chopping vegetables. She doesn't meow, and attacking/pouncing on people seems to be how she communicates want to be fed/go out etc.

I had thought my work laptop was garbage just on how terribly it runs, but just checking the specs its got an 11th gen i5 and 16gb ram.
