He's about to be 37, at the lower weight classes and after always cutting a ton of weight, I don't see how he'd be able to stay competitive at the top UFC level. Might be going to PFL to collect a big bag of cash though. Could be something else though

They've occasionally knocked fighters off the official roster listing without actually cutting them when they knew they were going to be out indeterminately with injury, most notably Joanna, so that'd be my first guess. Could just be straight retiring, though.

Retirement is also one of the only things that gives you contractual leverage with the UFC, so it's possible they've intentionally not told them. Hopefully clarification is coming. TJ Dillashaw seemed destined to be a poster boy for why it’s bad to be the guy who ignores bodily trauma to be *tough* ever since the Cejudo fight. Regardless of how you feel about the guy, going into a fight with a shoulder that’s slipping out of the socket and then fighting with an arm dangling uselessly by your hip so you can get pounded is just the dumbest idea* *unless he was literally going for one last payday and the chance to get his shoulder surgery paid for by the UFC
