The fan translators who get the most respect from me are the series of lunatics who've tried taking on Heterogeneous Linguistics, the manga about a fantasy anthropologist trying to communicate with a bunch of different monsters, whose languages presumably have rules known only to the author. The translators notes are half the fun.
