when i started the tank i had three, and they nipped at each other a lot. now ash is alone and maybe is still afraid to grow his gills out? i don't know.

that's rad. I haven't the wherewithal to take care of an animal that needs me to simulate it's environment, but axolotls seem dope as hell. are they typically aggressive when being kept together?

the problem is if something passes in front of their mouth they try and eat it. the trick is if something isn't big enough to swallow, like a big snail or pleco, or another axolotls leg, they will eventually give up.

i have seen people with multiple axolotls that don't have the aggression issue, but also i think it's down to individual temperament a bit. one of my 3 was EXTREMELY predatory, for some reason. in the first year that i moved here 2 of them died for unidentified reasons, maybe water differences or something, so it's just been me and ash for a while.

before dolly lived here full time, and i was taking care of her temporarily, she pulled ash out and bit him a bunch and i found him on the ground. i tossed him back in and he's been fine ever since.

axolotls rule. they are lil wolverines when it comes to healing.

Arctic cold front just arrived. The wind shifted from the SW to the NW and kicked up to 25 mph. The NWS is forecasting a 40 degree temperature drop in the next eight hours. Our wind chill advisory has been changed to a wind chill warning.

e: Rain changed over to snow only a few minutes after frontal passage.

In my hubris I tried to take a jog. Wasn't happening. Now I'm at the Indian restaurant near me waiting for mutton saag with vegetable pakora and a samosa. I want more samosas but that's probably more than enough food.
