Am I just supposed to die eventually? real talk, you should ask them why. chances are its because the real estate (scumbags) told them they could get more. speak directly to your landlord and ask them if that sort of nominal increase is really related to the ongoing viability of the property as an investment or if they've just been instructed that they should. Ask them to hold off on raising it for another year or something. unfortunately renters dont have much negotiating power if any, but theres always a chance that if you ask them person to person they will hold off on increasing. I know its very cool online to decry landlords as literal vampire cave-dwelling succubi morloch creatures but if you state a reasonable case they may hold off on the increase. but to answer your broader question maybe stop buying avocado toast

I used to live in this apartment that started at an okay rate but would raise the rent by $200/mo every year when we renewed the lease and then one year they only raised it by $90/mo and then after the new lease for that year was all signed and completed the property manager came back at us and was all "oopsie i messed up on the lease and accidently raised your rent by what the increase would be if you were going monthly and not a full year lease it, should have been a lot more can you sign a new one for the proper amount please?" and me and my roommates just lolled real hard, eat poo poo lady
