My wife got rear-ended and aggravated a cyst *inside* her spinal column called a syrinx, that we had no idea was there. she had weakness and tingling in her legs for almost week until said weakness caused her to fall and lose all strength in her legs. She spent 3 days in the hospital and has to use a walker for a the next few weeks, and needs to do physical therapy to strengthen her back and thighs to offset the weakness caused by the syrinx as it dissipates, if it dissipates.

When they first outlined it to her on her third day in the hospital, they told her it could possibly lead to a surgery that could lead to paraplegia and there's one guy in northern California who can do it.

Now they believe it's in the set of cases that go away on their own, should she not aggravate it anytime soon.

It's been... A couple weeks.

the woman that hit her has no insurance and no money or assets and the hospital stay wiped out our UMBI to hand over to the health insurance company on their inevitable lien.

Thank you everybody. 🙂 She should be all good and our settlement should include a cut out for our health insurance expenses that the health insurance provider can't touch, so no Kickstarter or anything. I just needed to vent.

She had a doctor's appointment Friday and they did all kinds of nerve tests. Should she not aggravate it, everything should be alright. The "hey you might be paraplegic" followed by "it should go away on its own" was certainly a shock to the system though.

I have started to rewatch House.

I know this show is formulaic and all but I love these characters a lot. Hugh Laurie is so good.

We just finished a rewatch of it... Good show. House calling Foreman black in an insulting way all the time ages like meat in the sun but still a good show.

It also has one of the few perfect endings to a TV show.

Twitter is a terrible news aggregator but it's proven invaluable for helping people to navigate disasters, get live reporting, etc. There's nowhere else on the internet to get breaking, on the ground reporting other than twitter.

Also there was a twitter spaces with a bunch of journalists and one pointed out that what is likely to be a disastrous quarterly earnings Tesla meeting is tomorrow and that might be a possible reason why Elon up and decided nobody but his fanboys get to see tweets anymore :lol:

I saw a video of an fx artist talking about how a lot of star wars and marvel looks like warmed over trash as of late because the bidding process is "x number of shots" when the shots could be as simple as removing a wire or animating a CGI character. They're still doing the bidding process that way but it's increasingly becoming onerous since its making everything in the scene but the actors for essentially the same cost as wire removals
