DoomE and OlliOlli are the heavy hitters.
Grow and Hokko seem potentially enjoyable.
Others not so much.

15-20 hour main story is pretty common for open world games (Just Cause, Arkham, Far Cry, old AssCreeds etc). Most of them double that playtime with distractions, of course.

Shortest that I can think of is Prototype 2 with about 10 hours.

Does Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun get better? I don't dislike it, but I'm also no very intrigued by it. The story so far, three or four missions in is bland and the characters are boring archtypes. I know I'm probably bad at it, but it feels like the game doesn't expect me to try to be sneaky at all. Like, yeah, don't get caught, but there's no consequence for murdering everyone on every map.

Not really... because it's great from the start!!

But yeah, if you don't like it after four levels, I don't see that changing.

I played Old Blood and New Colossus back to back and IIRC the controls felt worse and NC had tons of effort put on talking with your buddies in the hub world, but they weren't very interesting or particularly likeable. Overall bad pacing.

The first one was quite successful, selling more than 600k over the first year, almost a million in two years, but it was released before Steam Greenlight and the indie game explosion. The second was against much tougher competition and I guess a lot people who bought the original never beat it and maybe had enough of that genre.

Sorry for the confusion at the moment. We're trying to sort this out. Desktop Dungeons was meant to be free when Desktop Dungeons: Rewind launched, but timings have gotten confused.

If you bought Desktop Dungeons, you will get Rewind for free. Whether it's the Desktop Dungeons: Special Edition or Desktop Dungeons, both will work and you will receive Desktop Dungeons: Rewind for free on launch.

If you claimed Desktop Dungeons for free, we have no idea what's going to happen, and we don't know how it's going to resolve until Valve get back to us.

If you buy Desktop Dungeons or Desktop Dungeons: Special Edition after the launch of Desktop Dungeons: Rewind, you will not get Rewind for free. This is why we were supposed to be giving Desktop Dungeons away for free for a bit 😄

Hokko Life
Still on the lookout for relaxing games, I gave Hokko Life a try since I got it in some Fanatical bundle at some point I think. This one is basically Animal Crossing in fast forward, as each quest unlocks almost immediately after the other, and you can pass time by sleeping. Which is fine by me because I can enjoy the AC gameplay but the world itself in Hokko is really generic, and the animal designs are just kind of off-putting/creepy. I'll just unwind with this game for a couple of days before moving on to something else probably.

It's funny how it's kind of like Animal Crossing but almost completely without charm. All the villagers look like they're about to turn into Five Nights at Freddy murder mascots at any second.

The furniture customization tools are quite impressive, but there's hardly any point to actually spend time using those.

AvP 2000 is deceptively scary. It's fast paced and otherwise has all the chops of a standard shooter campaign, but playing as a marine in those tight and pitch black corridors with Xeno's screeching towards you gets tense as hell really quickly.

I've never played AvP 2 so it's a shame it's no longer available on Steam. The IP generally doesn't seem to fair well in terms of licensing, and there are multiple Aliens games I'd snap up on Steam if I could. Alien Trilogy was the first shooter I ever played and I'd love for Nightdive or whoever to get hold of it somehow.

AvP2 was quite basic shooter from that era. Pretty much what you'd expect from Monolith at the time. Definitely less scary and difficult than the original. Alien controls were neat and it was nice how the campaigns crossed each others.
