Awards season this year is going to be wild unless TGA and the like just decide to freeze it out.

Why would they? Overwatch 2 and Call of Duty got nominations and those games had controversies around the actual development studio.

Why does Uncharted default to a community input layout? Has anyone else experienced this? At least for an Xbox controller it maps it to a keyboard so you get keyboard prompts. Then it like disables all controller input in menus and it puts right stick sensitivity at a very specific 548% that makes you instantly motion sick as soon as the game gives you control.

It’s super jank and it’s just like that as soon as you boot the game up. This community profile has an ugodly number of hours played and based on some google searches some people notice but nobody really has an answer why this happens.

Do developers just have the ability to do this? Why would they do this with such an awful layout?

Early access can mean a lot of things, though. If you just stick to games that are already reasonably complete but are marked early access because they will still have more content added or significant balance changes or something, it's not that different from buying a lot of games that aren't marked early access, and probably none of the issues you are talking about will be a concern.

I'm sure there are early access games that are more like a prototype that's still in early development, but that's clearly not the case with things like Hades 2.

Tbh there are a lot of broken games released everyday that should be labeled early access

People complain about stuff like Elder Scrolls leveling the enemies to match the players level making everything feel bland and meaningless, so the truth is somewhere in the middle.

The difference is that Witcher 3 was made by experienced people passionate for their work and is full of actual interesting content and whatever un-interesting content there is, doesn't gate you from progressing the game. At no point does the game stop you because you haven't found enough trash chests or places of power.

Meanwhile Ubisoft games are all made by newly graduated chaff siphoned from their Ubi Schools to replace the last batch of chaff that god burned out on the last lovely project, and they neither know any better nor are give any time to do anything other than copy every other Ubisoft game with hundreds of lovely outposts and tower climbing that will all start blurring together after a couple of hours.

Ehhh CD PROJEKT RED isn’t some workers’ paradise either. Witcher 3 had its own massive amount of crunch, but to good result. They tried it again with Cyberpunk and it caught up with them
