Against my better judgement I read Nemesis Reloaded and.... ugh, Millar got me with that last page. I know I'll disappointed, but I kind of want to see where this goes.

Is the TV series as unnecessarily porny as the The Boys printed cartoon?

Because it's loving childishly porny and people keep recommending the TV series to me.

Imagine if The Boys was actually good and excised about 50% of the gross out stuff. That's the show.

it's not worth it, watch the show instead

Corto Maltese is such a masterpiece. It's also frustrating to learn that the back half of Lone Wolf and Club is difficult to find these days-- it becomes something so interesting and thorny by the end, I think if the first couple volumes are all that's available to an English audience they're really getting cheated out of something special.

I'm so glad I got those digests they published back in the day, even if I hate digests and I'm now to old to even read something that small!

I use cdisplay on my laptop. I can turn the lap top on the side and rotate the image so it's like reading a physical book. At home, the laptop is typically plugged into my tv, so I just scroll normal style there.

Heh, I'm rereading Planetary right now (Elijah sure is a jerk to people "below" him, huh). Authority and Wildcats by Joe Casey seem to be talked about as a "trilogy" of series coming out around the same time. I've never read Wildcats, but it's on my list now that I have the DC app.

Quick look at my shelf, Casanova jumped out as something that hits me the same way, though I can't say why. Crazy science stuff going on?

Wildcats 3.0 is one of my favorite comics

The series specifically titled "Wildcats 3.0" the series directly before that was fine too, bit I don't remember one after that so take that for what it is.

Thank you for this!

I'd prefer to start with Moore's run but I don't have that yet, nor a full run of Vol 2 so I'd rather wait until I have all the issues.

So I decided to start with vol 1 issue 1, and it's throwing me off. I just re-read The Boys and I'm almost certain that the leader of Paralactic (who gets his self-destruct mode activated) is a direct parody of Warblade.

Also there appears to be a great deal of Authority out there. Is it all worth checking out?

Honestly, all the wildcats comics are good, aside from the original Lee run, and even that has the benefit of being drawn by Jim Lee.

The story is fine in issue 1vol 1, but the character designs are just taking me back to the mid-late 90s where everything is exxxxxtrrrrreeeeemmmmeeeeeee and why does that guy have a random ponytail and why does that lady look like a Silverhawk and of course they have a big giant guy on the team. Issue 1 of 3.0 grabbed me a little bit more but I'd just feel remiss if I didn't read Moore's run first.

The more I think of it, yeah. As I said, 3.0 is my favorite but a big part of that was the build up to it and the status quo change it represented. Moore was the one who introduce Ladytron, right? That's a fun character. I haven't read volume 1 since it was released, and not much of that, since I went to college in '94 and didn't have the money to keep up with comics until like 2000.

On that note, what you say are the top ten character designs in comics? Superman, batman, Spiderman are all right there at the top, any of those could be number 1. What makes a good character design?

I'm in the process of going through my old trades and seeing what I can get on Kindle since my eyes are going and I dislike having to wear glasses to read the physical books instead of throwing them up on my tv screen through the laptop. It's looking like I'm gonna have to rebuy Astro City, are the metrobooks vol 1-4 the new complete collection? I had all the early stuff, but started missing issues when I moved away from buying physical copies and the book kept relaunching and switching publishers.

A discord I'm in was talking about Fable a few weeks ago, warning a new reader about Willingham's agenda in the later books. I was curious to see how they held up since I haven't read them in years and within the first couple pages, Snow White is already saying that social programs are government coddling, so I guess the signs were always there the whole time .

yeah that and witch using abortions to power her magic were the big ones. I do agree that writers can and should write characters with views that are not the writer's own, but knowing what we know now, that mask started slipping early.

In the second trade and Goldilocks being a parody of a leftist revolutionary hits the same feeling.
