Hard to believe that after almost 30 years there's finally a new issue of Miracleman.

Got done reading Kate Beaton's new book, "Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands" and it is very good but it does deal with some pretty heavy subject matter.

Meanwhile, Viz Media has introduced another subscription service in the same vein as Shonen Jump. Just $1.99 a month for 100 chapters a day with a lot of classic and new stuff.

I've been reading an old horror manga called Cat Eyed Boy where the titular boy travels around and gets involved in supernatural situations. It's by the same creator as Drifting Classroom (which is also on the new service)

Its got a lot of horror and shojo manga. Like if you ever wanted to read everything from Rumiko Takahashi they've got it.

I really liked post-Annihilation Star Lord.

Speaking of Ghost Rider costumes, I really liked the look from the movie sequel, Spirit of Vengeance. The black, oily smoke and the singed/melted jacket really sold the whole 'head of fire" vibe.

It also sets up a bunch of stuff you'll probably recognize from other books.

So fun fact, the demon that Etrigan fights in Swamp Thing was actually from Jack Kirby's original Etrigan comic.

Saw something kind of goofy today, a Batman Hot Wheels set where the cars were all normal stuff like a police car that just said Gotham PD on it except the last one which was the Batwing from Rises.

I have no idea on the quality but Marvel had a 1980s comic called The 'Nam and at least some of it is available on Marvel Unlimited I'm pretty sure.

The 'Nam is pretty good. Larry Hama consulted on it to help with the realism and it had an interesting gimmick of the book taking place in real time. What that means is that time passed in the comic so 12 issues was a year to the characters. So there were characters kind of cycling in and out of the story. While it isn't a "mature" title like Punisher Max it doesn't sugarcoat the war either.

I'd also recommend the various war comics that EC published back in the day. There's a lot of good stuff in there, especially in regards to the Korean War.

I think my favorite of the Four Little Shits is definitely Shimada Death. What's not to love about a character who has all the powers, is invincible and is also a giant lady?

My favorite part of From Hell is the afterword, "Dance of the gull catchers" where Alan Moore talks about why he wrote the comic as well as the history of Ripperology.

The QAA podcast recently did an episode about Frederic Wertham and how a 2012 study discovered that Wertham "manipulated, overstated, compromised and fabricated evidence" by doing stuff like editing or even making up quotes.
