Speaking of Microsoft's quirks, has anyone written anything in DAX? It's their analysis language used in Excel, Power BI, etc... The entire language is a quirk. Worst language, by far, that I've ever worked with. I'd rather write in Perl all day than DAX. The more I learn/use DAX, the more confident I grow that a good percentage of the Power BI report out there aren't displaying their intended calculations.

Thanks Ants posted:Onboarding is not an IT task, it is a line manager task. Line manager gets the laptop and the credentials (temporary access pass if you're on board with all that) and gives them to the new hire when they turn up. That's been my experience as a user for the past 3 jobs. My managers handled everything when I showed up.

I'll definitely be plugging away at it while on the clock...

I haven't done a ton of research but I guess there is some sort of "Critical Job" list where foreigner workers would have an easier time of moving there and finding work? I'm not sure if IT is on there but Nursing is, and I have a dusty but active license. How do you say "You have the diabetes" in Irish?

jaadee posted:This waterfall of consequences is why I don't consider a load of laundry to be "done" until it's washed, dried, and out of the dryer and into something that's not a laundry basket. My partner has enough clothes that she will sometimes have a load in the washer just slowly mildewing along with treating the dryer as the final resting place for an additional load. Laundry basket is of course full of a clean load as well. It's sad the amount of tension this can create due to her not seeing anything wrong with it and me worrying that she's having anxiety or stress issues because who wants to deal with that mess all piled up.
