It's entirely possible for Hakuho to be the greatest athlete in a sport but a huge, colossal shithead at the same time. Hokuseiho was his recruit. They'd been together in the heya for years. I assume Hakuho's influence there was overwhelming even when he wasn't the official leader. The association knows him better than anyone else. I really think that people in this thread want to let too much from him slide because they liked his wrestling.

I also used to root for Abi until he pulled a henka "side tachi-ai" on Takayasu during a playoff. I can usually appreciate a henka, but pulling one during a playoff seems like especially bad form. Doesn't help that the result was Takayasu writhing in pain on the dohyo. If I recall Takayasu was already injured going into that match, so that part can't be blamed on Abi, but that might have been one of Takayasu's last chances a tournament win.
