Can the gyoji call torinaoshi instead of making a decisive call? I'm guessing not since I've never seen it happen and it can only be declared as a result of a mono-ii. Seems unfair to them and to the declared losing riskishi that it isn't an option to do so in an actual dead-heat scenario.

Thanks Kenning and thanks again for running! If it's a 0.5 difference above what I calculate, it's probably a missed MK deduction - perhaps for one of the Y/Os? Just purely for my own interest, I've done up my own Excel to track everyone's score during the tournament and I think my setup works quite well. The only shortcoming is that I have no idea how the drafting and trade wire works so until you announce the result of the draft and trades, I can't update certain goons' score.

Marbling doesn't lie; the meat was very rich and fatty. To me it was delicious at the amount I ate but to a person more sensitive to oily foods, it may prove overly greasy. The trick that teppenyaki places do where they serve the cooked meat atop a slice of toast to soak up some of the excess fat would have improved this. I ordered the "Yokozuna set" which includes all the usual cuts of beef and finishes with a chateaubriand cut.

The restaurant itself was very small. Only three tables plus one more in a private room area. I went very early and finished by 7:30pm and there was one other occupied table when I left. Chiyotairyu looked quite tired when he first entered the restaurant and let's just say that restaurant etiquette isn't a skill that's taught in the stables. Nothing that really impacted my dining and him sitting at the table next to us on his phone gave me the great opportunity to take the photo I posted. He was very friendly when I interacted with him after my meal and I got several photos with him. If anyone else wants to try, I made my reservation by texting the restaurant's Instagram account and Chiyotairyu himself replied to me in English.

Hey Kenning, purely for my own entertainment, I built my own Excel tracker for this basho and was wondering if I could share it to the thread? It would contain the final results for all participants and a full breakdown of their performance. No worries though if you'd rather I didn't since I can't guarantee that I got all the scoring and tie-breaker mechanics 100% correct. I would spoiler it and state clearly that it is unofficial and that your post would be the official final results.

From gobbling Chiyotairyu's meat to winning the basho, it's been a blessed sumo month for me! Congratulations Tiny Bug Child! Happy to share this yusho with you! Kenning, great job again running fantasy sumo. But I think you might want to double-check a few things. I've been keeping my own tracker and it seems everyone that had Atamifuji in their stable have an extra 3 points. I am fairly certain it is because the 3 points for Sansho for Atamifuji got added in twice? This doesn't change makuuchi much (you and Communist Thoughts should move up a few spots in the overall standings) but it does impact the final standings in Juryo. I also think ullerrm, The Postman and Boogalo should have their scores adjusted upwards a bit? Aside from that, everything on your final results matches mine. code:

Wow that was fast. Thanks...um...Brut? Tiny Bug Child also should be eligible for the tag change should they so choose. And because Helianthus Annuus expressed interest, I'll try to post daily fantasy score updates this basho in my own spreadsheet tracker format I made including the breakdown for each participant. I think I've checked it enough that it should be accurate (thanks for cross-checking Kenning, you are correct that I gave an extra point to Boogalo by accident on my list). Just note that if a draft isn't finalised by Kenning, I won't be able to generate the result for that player until it is announced.

It's your contest so if you'd rather keep full ownership of scorekeeping, I'd totally understand since I can't promise that my tracker won't be fully error-free. edit: Thanks Kenning! Tracker is now updated to Day 13 Kenning - compared your Day 11 to mine and everyone that had Hokutofuji has a half-point more on your tracker vs mine - almost certainly due to not having Hokutofuji's MK deduction applied yet. The only other discrepancy is for Ben Nerevarine who is 33.5 on your list vs 33 on mine. Clearly you've taken off 0.5 for one of Roga or Takarafuji's MK but I think you are missing the other (I'm guessing Roga's who is a traded-away MK).

Tracker is now updated to Day 14 All points and names are matched on Day 13 between you and me Kenning! For Day 14, I've added in 3 points to those who hold the winner of the Atamifuji vs Kirishima match since the victor is guaranteed at least a Jun-Yusho placing. This is reflected the Adjusted column on the daily tracker and the list is sorted by this points total. I've not made this adjustment on the detailed tracker so there will be this difference if you are checking your detailed scoring. I'm sorting as well by tie-breakers though the important 1st tiebreaker of Yusho will only be known on the final day.

Kenning posted:Remember that the jun-yusho points aren't awarded if more than 2 rikishi share the jun-yusho score. If on day 15 Ichiyamamoto and Kotonowaka win, and Atamifuji loses, there would be no jun-yusho bonus awarded. In terms of odds, however, I expect Atamifuji to get the points. Right, but with Kirishima up 1 win, he will either: - secure the Yusho with a win or an Atamifuji Day 15 loss or - be the sole Jun-Yusho in a playoff loss to Atamifuji Hence, Kirishima has secured at least 3 points after Day 14's results. Hard to programme such a scenario into the tracker so I added this manually into the summary tracker. And having said that, here are the final (unofficial until Kenning's post) results! Sorry for the long post but since this is the final day, I figured I might as well do a final posting to show off the final tracker and results. I can't guarantee that I can do this tracking and daily update every basho due to my travel schedule but I will try to post it when I'm able and if people here feel there's value in it. I definitely won't be able to start this tracker for the Jan 2024 basho until a few days into it when I get back home. Let me know if you folks have any feedback on how to improve on it. I'm thinking next time, you could choose your own Shikona (user name abbreviation, if you don't like the one I gave you!) and Mawashi colour (background and font colour). edit: made it a bit more mobile friendly to view Day 15 - Final Update: code:

I was sort of hoping the Ura could simply lift Hokuseiho's raised leg and force him to cartwheel out and thus invent a new kimarite. But I suspect Ura may have had the presence of mind to make a split second decision to not do that and put a vulnerable opponent at further injury risk.

Kenning posted:Thanks for your tracker during this basho, it was actually really useful for debugging my new sheet. No problem Kenning. It was fun getting it up and running for a whole basho for the first time. I think I would like to give everyone the chance to customise their Shikona (abbreviation) and Mawashi (cell/font colour) for the next basho if you'll allow it during the draft! One last nit to pick since it does impact two players' KK/MK standings. My whole rankings are sorted by points and then, in priority order, by all 6 tie-breakers. Aside from determining the winners, I think the rest of your rankings are only sorted by points and then alphabetical? By applying the tie-breakers, Jobbo_Fett holds the Yusho tie-breaker vs Ice Phisherman - both with 47 points. These two straddle the middle two rankings for Makuuchi which I believe is the KK/MK cut-off (sorry Ice!). A few other players would also swap up & down 1 or 2 spots but it would not alter their KK or MK status.

Back home from my travels and I've just finished catching up with this basho and updating the tracker. Kenning - OneSizeFitsAll should have only 6 points on Day 02 by my reckoning. This is the only discrepancy between your update and my tracker as at Day 02. Incorrectly added kinboshi points perhaps? And I'll await your posting on trade confirmations for Day 04 before my next tracker update because it looks like there's going to be nearly two dozen trades to process! What's New: Added a Juryo row for the detailed tracker. Note that the wins for Juryo do not add into your total score and it's only used as a tie-breaker. I've continued to order the summary placings by tie-breakers as well even though officially, Kenning only looks at these to determine overall divisional winners. As befitting sumo ranks, everyone in Juryo gets the same light-grey background as their Excel cell mawashi colour. As non-ranked shin-goonzeki, OneSizeFitsAll, Greekonomics, Nick Soapdish, CodFishBalls and StupidSexyMothman also only get grey font. Everyone in Maegashira gets a darker background mawashi colour. If you are Sanyaku, you get a coloured background. Banana Canada fucked around with this message at 19:16 on Jan 17, 2024 |
