Yeah.

I'm 50 and my back has been moderately hosed up since I was 18; but it's less hosed up now than it was thirty years ago. Can recommend doing deadlifts on a regular basis.

Don't have arthritis (yet anyway), the worst -itis I've had so far is a few rounds of tendonitis. loving human shoulders, man, they're the worst.
