Mighty Bomb Jack (also made by Technos) had the same “game deviation value” measurement when you died and I remember it mystifying me as a kid. Mighty Bomb Jack’s win condition was even more arcane and impossible. I have no idea how anyone beat that game legitimately before the internet. If you have access to a NES emulator, go play Solomon’s key right now. It’s crazy fun. Robowarrior was bad. Iirc it started life as a bomberman game but then something fell through and Jaleco ended up with it. The music was catchy though. Iirc robowarrior had stuff like “you need a torch in specific late game dungeons but drops are randomized and if you run out it’s just game over”.
