I forget sometimes that it's good to presume that your opponent often has intentions or some kind of plan behind their move, and that you can spend some time trying to figure that out. |

just popped into my head: if you're someone who learns well from reading, this book is one I picked up that's pretty accessible and explains the logic behind every move in a collection of GM games. it does a great job of digesting complex ideas into simple concepts. the author claims in the beginning that if you follow the principles he describes you'll find good moves falling into your lap during games, and weirdly it's happened for me a few times Chessbook - Irving Chernev - Logical Chess - Move by Move.pdf https://archive.org/download/logicalchess_movebymove/Chessbook%20-%20Irving%20Chernev%20-%20Logical%20Chess%20-%20Move%20by%20Move.pdf

I'm actually surprised I got away with only three inaccuracies. there was really just one blunder that I was able to capitalize on, but up until then it was pretty even. and even after that you played your position really well. (the chart looks kind of intimidating but it was really just that one move that threw things off.)  send me a challenge if you want to play another
