ok so i mentioned my plumbing problems in hw&c thread (which have been solved hooray). my landlord was cleaning up water with his shop vac and said "oh i also vacuumed this other closet because water had got in it. also by the way i lifted the carpet to get all of it. you might see a white circle there, that's the safe the previous tenant installed. i don't know the combination" here is the safe:  here is the underside of the lid (keeps the safe watertight, according to the owner's manual i found):

i googled the handwritten notes on the underside, and the first result was comparing motorcycle clubs to riding clubs. one of the few things i actually know about the previous tenants is that one of them had a motorcycle. a lead???

I have a friend who found a large mystery safe in her apartment hidden in a closet, and had a locksmith come drill it open. There were lots of guns inside by someone who didn't want to ship them to his next residence, along with a note that said Good Luck with The Zombie Apocalypse. She let the locksmith keep the guns. |

OP what we're looking at here is a classic biker gang dead drop 100% no question. I'd wager that what u find in there is gonna be some dope rear end crime poo poo, maybe even a murder weapon call in the laser saw

There's an old floor safe like that, much older than that one, about maybe half a foot in diameter and a bit more than that deep, at a bar that I frequent and help out at sometimes in one of the back rooms. Long ago they put it in the floor right next to the big ice maker, which leaks now and again, so it's a bucket of rust and gets stuck from time to time. The water damage part of the story reminded me of that. So, I don't have any tips on how to get it open if you don't know how to open it, but I've figured it out a few times when it's supposed to open but just won't, hah. Anyhow, if any updates arise, I'd love to hear!

i don't want to drill it because, since i'm assuming it's empty, the ideal outcome is thus i open it and now i have a safe, neat i'm not gonna give it back to the previous tenant because i have no way of contacting them, also it's installed in concrete in a closet and that sounds like way too much work
