Fun fact: While the Gremlins never appeared in a Disney film; a group of Gremlins were the protagonists of a 1944 Merrie Melodies short Russian Rhapsody, directed by Bob Clampett, that was even originally going to be titled "Gremlins from the Kremlin" until Disney asked them to not use the name as the adaptation of The Gremlins was in production at the time, despite the fact that the adaptation ended up never getting made.

Minor correction, "Geef" refers to one of Goofy's own names "George Geef" as certain Goofy shorts imply him to be outright married hence why he has a son, Max, rather than a nephew like Mickey and Donald.

There’s a little more to Oswald's story prior to his acquirement by Disney. You see after Mintz was fired, Walter Lantz who you mentioned in passing replaced Mintz. According to legend while schmoozing with Universal president Carl Laemmle, Lantz wagered that if he could beat Laemmle in a game of poker, the animation department would become Lantz's; Lantz winning the bet and thus Oswald. However while him becoming studio head was likely at a poker game, the bet itself was unlikely as Lantz wasn’t a poker player himself. Lantz would ultimately go on to create his own characters, Andy Panda and Woody Woodpecker, to replace Oswald as headline star when the rabbit's luck ran out by the late 1930s. Woody and Andy are still own by Universal with the former being the mascot of the Universal Studios theme parks. Chimera-gui fucked around with this message at 21:02 on Feb 17, 2023 |

So okay Eisner is a complicated issue for Disney history that Kevin Perjurer is more qualified to explain in detail but basically following the death of Walt Disney himself, his company was not doing well financially as the old guard were too concerned with following the mantra "What Would Walt Do?" which resulted in creative stagnation leading to poor film performances. This wound up getting so bad that Disney was just barely able to fight off a corporate takeover which was when Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg were hired to effectively save the company with The Great Mouse Detective, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Oliver & Company and Little Mermaid being the earliest films of what would be known as the Disney Renaissance with Eisner looking to make the 90s the Disney Decade. Unfortunately the late 90s would not be kind to Michael Eisner as concerns arose internally, particularly from himself and Roy E. Disney, about Katzenberg taking too much credit for the success of Disney's animated releases and was now eyeing the position of president of the company, which came to a head with the passing of Frank Wells resulting in the falling out between Eisner and Katzenberg that would mark the 2000s. To make matters worse as this was going on, the infamous disaster that was Euro Disneyland happened along with a failed attempt to create a park in Virginia, the failed DisneyQuest chain and California Adventure.
