 I played enough XI during XIV pre-expac lulls to make it through like 90% of major stories (mainly missing the mini-expansions and Bastok/Windurst stories) and I can say that the number 1 thing that helped me keep my sanity (aside from swapping to controller) was excessive amounts of third-party tool use, which is funny considering I play XIV entirely mod-free. Thanks to the person who developed the XIV-style crossbar mod.
