If we are still doing book chat this is a fine read. Written by Sid Waddells son too. It's about an amateur cricket team that toured Germany in 1937.

NZ definitely punched above their weight; that’s why they’re so likable (at least to me)

Consigning 50-over cricket to nothing more than a 2nd XI / Youth tournament, going wonderfully for England.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.
Steve Smith took out his fourth Allan Border medal last night, finishing ahead of Travis Head and Warner (nfi how he finished third!?). Khawaja won men’s Test player of the year, Beth Mooney won the best women’s player award again

I think the only explanation for Warner finishing so high is he's a three format player and picked up some trash points from T20s

Silly question:

Who awards the points for the Allan Border Medal? Is it the Match Referee? Is it the Umpires? Whatever selector/Cricket Australia official that is watching that match?

And are they weighted? i.e. Test points matter more than ODI points matter more than T20 points etc.?

Players, umpires and “media” apparently, though who exactly is voting I dunno. I think they use a 3-2-1 kind of system like the Brownlow

How to get into the BBL grand final:

Step 1: Win 2 out of your first 9 games.
Step 2: Somehow get into the finals.
Step 3: Win 3 finals games in a row.
