Thanks for the responses to my questions, gave me some stuff to think about.

I drew this last night:



It started off as Mia Goth in Pearl but I wasn't measuring out the face really and ended up redrawing the features later without reference so it doesn't look much like her but I'm pretty pleased with the progress. I think the right eye is a bit off in comparison to the left, couldn't seem to get it right and I just called it, the nose looks okay but could be better and I think the forehead size is a little wrong, so I'll try working on those areas on the next drawing. Any other obvious improvements I could make?

Her name is Molli and she's a potential alternative guide character for my next visual novel. I have two ideas for the next VN and both involve guides to gently give the player an objective. Mollie happens to be of mixed heritage between a couple of races native to a world build of mine (that hate each other). The plot is the same though -- Division XIII which hunts down the immortal fae who have lived too long is using a new program in which they introduce faeries to mortals in order to form friendship bonds so they learn to live, surrendering their immortality. This is both more humane and a lot less trouble than hunting them down and ending them before the faeries go bad and cause problems for everyone.

(I use the term 'faerie' and I use the Seelie/Unseelie courts, but I'm using the term as generically as it was used originally and you could just as easily use the term 'yokai' or 'ghost')

- did ghosted planes at drawabox. line confidence is improving.
- some art friends pointed me toward line of action for practicing gesture drawing, so i did a session there. i think this is starting to bear fruit, i feel like i'm getting a pose which is recognizable and captures the motion of the figure more often now.
- i had an absolutely terrible attempt at painting jigglypuff in a unique pose, then i decided to dial it back a bit and really invest like an hour into a still life of a pear. messed around with shadow color and really blending to get the feel of the values right.

learned from the mistakes and successes, so as always, i am happy. here is the pear.
