David Wong is the retired pen name of former Cracked editor and current novelist/podcast guest/TikToker Jason Pargin. It's also the name of one of the characters in (at least) his first book, John Dies at the End. I have no idea why he'd be getting referenced in this game, maybe it's just a weird coincidence. Also the Leopard King should be called the Snake King, because boy does that portrait resemble Peace Walker-era Big Boss. Actually, fighting a dude earlier that you thought was the Leopard King could be construed as a reference to the original two Metal Gears.
