I swear, every time I turn a corner in this game I find new things to distract me. That's a good thing! In this video we get a few loose ends tied up and it pays off in the form of DELICIOUS GOLD and also SLAB which is MORE KIND OF GRAYISH

We don't see two things on the video because of crashing and re-recording: One, the Collector is one hell of a fight if you do him face-to-face because of that bomb disposal suit he's wearing, and two: the trinket machine thing is *unbelievably tedious* to do the way I did. I ended up having to kill almost every drat person on the map to find enough passive residuum to try and get it that way, and it was sheer stubbornness that had me doing it. Don't so much recommend.

Michael Croner who voices Aleksis was in an episode of Young Sheldon, but he was also in an episode of Mike Tyson Mysteries, so it's impossible to tell if he was bad or good, etc.

Importantly, the 'that's where I've heard that voice' moment for the cast for me at least is Julianna's VA Ozioma Akagha voicing Alyx Vance.

Also, noticed something.

So, in Fia's audio recording which was clearly edited into the Sixty-Second Minute, she mentions a song that Frank and Charlie wrote together. And apparently, Julianna knew that from context, because in the text version, she names it as "Ode To Somewhere", linked already.

I find it very hard to believe that Charlie could write anything romantic to save his life.

So, the fun part of doing this all without knowing what I'm getting into is that I really can't always hammer out quite the plotting/pacing schedule I'd vaguely had in mind - in this case, we're looking into an Arsenal Lead because I thought it'd be quick and painless (hell, getting the Sepulchra would've taken two minutes if that was all I was doing), but instead it was of above average video length. Still! New toys! And it's rad as helllll

I had forgotten to address your saying this so before I forget again!

I think it has the same 'issue' with a lot of Arkane games where playing stealth is far and away the best risk/reward ratio, but it's designed more directly to be an action game than a hybrid, so those two things are just at loggerheads. I know if I was just playing this solo I'd be a bit of a grumpus with the nailgun and the shotgun and just trudge through the whole affair with a single playstyle. I'm personally enjoying it a lot more making absolute fool decisions and having a conscious effort to try different weapon and trinket loadouts to try and introduce variety, and I think I'm seeing a lot more incidental stuff as a result, too.

Still, thank you very much! I'm loving the game to pieces, and it's feeling like we're not on-the-precipice-of- but definitely getting-close-to- the climax, but I could certainly be proven wrong.

A shorter one today, but dense - we're putting a lot of pieces in place to get a move on towards our ending, and giving the Verso pistols their first honest try. They will be getting another honest try on Tuesday when we go do the complex; I expect a lot of shenanigans from that one as we haven't been to the Complex in the a.m. and we have much to see while we're there. Also, in this video I make past me look like a whining, wimpy baby man; I promise the collector is a scary fight if you're not kitted just right!

Document!
- Aesthetics are Key. This one puts our last couple pieces in place, as far as I can tell; Wenjie's (Wenjies'?) office must have something that lets us know how to kill her outside of the afternoon time slot, and we need it to get murderous efficiently enough.

Weapon!

The Strelak Verso, like its manufacturer cousin the Strelak 50-50, both fires two rounds with every trigger pull and is mechanically baffling at every level. But also like its cousin, it is cool as hell. Extra ammo, dual wield buff trinkets, and sometimes adding havoc and these little guys do enough damage to everyone in visible range they should probably be tried at The Hague. I don't believe they're the only possible fun option for dual wielding, but they fixed all of the little comfort/control issues I personally had with doing so.

Just a quick couple notes! First, I finally figured out audio ducking in this video, it only took more than half the LP. In my limited defense I haven't done video editing in any meaningful context in over 15 years but do know I'm working behind the scenes to always tidy things up and make the vids more watchable!

Second, while I can try to get some videos scheduled/backlogged in advance, I will be out of town getting lost in some mountains on 4/22 and 4/25. At worst, this means a week off; at best this means a short text update with a video link that I come back and update once I'm back home at my rig. I like keeping to a schedule, but I do also like vacation! I don't really get those as they are not included by default in the American Dream ExperienceŠ so I jump on it when I can. Thanks for your understanding!

Weapon!

The H.A.L.P.S. Prototype is a beast of a weapon that, importantly, does not appear to do damage. It kills people very quickly, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't do health damage - rather, it seems to increase a 'heat' bar which, when full, kills the target. I say this because when I freed it I didn't take health damage prior to death, and in testing a Julianna with Havoc on is completely immune to it, which suggests it wasn't doing health damage to drain her power. Maybe it's coded to check for health damage vulnerability? I ain't no programs-y man. All I know is "ignore havoc, kill visionary by booting them twice and executing"

I'm getting off topic. The HALPS is a drat load of fun to use, and you can very likely get away with some fun, silly stuff using its camera/turret charge options. The only drawbacks are reloading, which you have to plan for with batteries, and that it's what you see on the tin - no trinkets, so you can't really mix up how it feels and acts. But it is a beast and make no mistake about that.

A small note about the pod in the basement that's in the water: the battery is powering a switch that lets you open the pod door. I think there's just some residuum in there (that's what the noise was telling me anyway, and I don't remember finding anything significant)

e: and as far as the HALPS puzzle goes, there's a note somewhere saying that sensors aren't the only tech tool that redirects the laser so yeah, there's a less suicidal way to get it :)

The "Goldenloop" content patch from September 2022 included the HALPS, the Fugue Slab, the Paint Bomber enemies, the 2-in-1 trinkets, some Julianna stuff (I'll try out the invasion side of things one of these days!), and an 'extended ending' per the press materials, so if you played the game on release that's the bullet list of the new things!

(Video was set to be done processing HD/4k more than an hour ago but is, according to youtube "taking longer than expected, please wait". It should kick over into HD soon, but may be SD only for a little bit!)

He did not have the agency that everyone is assigning him, arrgh
- Living Deja-Vu
- Towards Tomorrow

I don't think I...'get' Pick, or I'm missing some context. My takeaway is that she needs to die before the loop occurs so she doesn't lose the previous loop's memories? I still feel like I'm missing a key part though. Hm.

Weapon!

The Heritage Gun - another transforming weapon, uses shotgun ammunition. Its compact mode fires slugs and functionally acts like the Rapier with a magazine, its expanded mode acts like the Trencher with a very horizontal, line-like shot spread. Again, do not consider mechanics or engineering, even a little bit, please

Still, it combines two of my favorite guns into one, plus we get some Arnie in T2 feeling from cycling with the lever action on it. Ours increases damage based on the time of day, so it's hitting the hardest on the evening/high-danger portion of a given loop, which is neat!
