I re-watched the Lord of the Rings again recently and they really are a breath of fresh air in their earnestness compared to today's Marvel-filled world. Not a hint of irony about them. It's nice.

Also, Viggo Mortensen is the coolest guy in the world

What happened to Gareth Edwards that got him put in movie jail? Was it Rogue One? Because it still made a billion dollars and the aesthetic he created in that movie seems like it was copied going forward.

Black Canary was a white lady but then they made her black in the Harley Quinn movie so I don’t know what’s up now.

Black Manta was my fav part of Aquaman, everything about him, and him not being in the last act absolutely hurt the film

The entire movie could have been him coming up with ways to murder an oblivious Aquaman and I would have loved it

The only good parts of the hobbit movies are the beginning, the riddle game with gollum, and bilbo's encounter with smaug, in which the latter two are the best parts of the book anyways.

Gandalf murking the goblin king was genuinely pretty cool

Mr Birchum was an old character Adam used to do on Kevin & Bean where he complained about dumb old man things and talked a lot about the latest pornography releases so should be an interesting show for our conservative friends!

The real answer is that it’s about a spy novelist who accidentally predicts major global events through her books, so a spy agency tracks her down to figure out what’s going to happen, and chaos and hilarity ensues. I saw the trailer before Godzilla Minus One, and it looked really wAcKy and tryhard to an embarrassing extent (oh my god a CAT??? doing faces at EXPLOSIONS?!?!). But it stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Edward Norton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Bryan Cranston, so it at least has a stacked cast going for it.

Sam Rockwel, not Ed Norton, but basically. Also, Henry Cavill’s hair looks ridiculous.

Zac Efron is probably a genuinely good actor but I guess we’ll never know for sure

Owen Wilson is in the news for turning down a multi million dollar payday to be in a movie saying that OJ wasn't the killer. Details are light but I'm assuming it will be based on the debunked theory that a serial killer was responsible.

Tarantino's at it again?

Lightyear was such a bizarre movie. It purported to be what Andy saw in 1995 that made him want the toy, but so much of the film's subtext is wrapped up in it being a story about Buzz as a toy. Like, the whole thing about Buzz staying the same while everyone around him ages, or including a duplicate of the character within the narrative are the kind of things you only think of if you're already thinking of the character as a toy.

Plus the feel of the movie is way off. They tried to do Interstellar, but should have been making Lost in Space.

The whole time I was wondering, “Why is this a little kid’s favorite movie?”

I think it was basically just The Dwayne thinking that Black Adam is a serious character and he can't fight a goofy guy like Shazam while still being a cool guy.

The Rock being his action hero self around a bunch of children is such a good idea and I'm baffled that he couldn't see it. Arnold did it and everyone loved it!

It’s funny because all the apes are played by somewhat recognizable actors but you’d never be able to guess who they are and then Bad Ape shows up and you immediately think, “Oh hey that’s Steve Zahn.”
