Even if you stuff an entire deep freeze full of taquitos and cartons of smokes and put yourself on on a nutrient drip iv and turn your main seat into a toilet there’s still some poo poo you have to do. And it’s bullshit, it really is. Why can’t people just be dolls or coral reef? Why did we elect this form and why do we craft our environment? Can’t we all just be the same being on some spacecraft and eat sugar with our eyes? Why do anything if the goal is to devolve? It’s even work to present the argument of the devil, that our emergence should go back to tranquility and nothing and oneness. It’s like the very fabric of reality centers on this question of misery and the constant doubt that making some of our world is worth it, and a true qualitative assessment of pleasure and complexity has never parsed from a simple origin, and a non-gendered let has never been forever.

That’s why we have youth and old age op, so we can enjoy the world we’re making without work. People who don’t understand that are destined to burn out.

From 2020 to 2022 my job was to go to work and then watch movies on my phone all day, then clock out and go home. I was making pretty good money, but the job was in complete isolation during the night. It destroyed me. It was like I went years without really interacting with anyone. It turned me into a goblin. Now I'm trying to get my poo poo back in order so I took a job as a cashier, which doesn't pay much but does force me to interact with 250+ people a day. Everything sucks about everything.

I'm my own boss, and I love my job, but I also profoundly dislike work. At the age of 52, you don't have that much actual usable time left before you start getting either 'too old' for stuff or start getting interesting illnesses and diseases that limit your quality or quantity of life. I'd much rather spend my time doing what I actually want, despite really liking what I do for a living.

Rage quit your job and spend a few years doing a bullshit but kinda cool job until it slowly turns into a real job just with lovely pay and starts sucking too then rage quit it spend a summer doing the lowest effort outside job you can find go back to your normal people job but only this time don't give as much of a gently caress and do drugs on weekends. Worked for me.

any career suggestions for someone who has absolutely no moral fiber whatsoever? seriously I am a complete sociopath, just utterly selfish, and I have no moral qualms about pushing down the other rats in this cage we call life just to get ahead. I will do or say anything to anyone as long as I get decent pay and as long as there's little or no obligation to interact with other human beings

Our modern concept of "work" is based off of performing labor completely divorced from any sort of development of or connection with our social environment, merely fulfilling an abstract need to make a living. This is different than the concept of labor in the past where our efforts often contributed directly to the benefit and wellbeing of our surroundings and community. It's possible but more difficult these days to find work that fulfills that need. Often it's worth disassocating your life from your work and finding that connection elsewhere, rather than futilely finding that level of meaning from your work. hth

i guess work sucks but then not working also sucks. at least with work there is this fundamental experiential pressure and release of, i go to work and focus and have to do things i don't want to do, then i go home and don't have to do those things. when i was younger i would look at my paycheck and think, this was not really worth it. but eventually i learned that not working felt, somehow, exactly the same. it's one of the most hosed up things about people imo.
