Post about interesting stuff that's happened on forums.

Here's one I like: https://www.michiganreefers.com/threads/the-bobbit-worm-chronicles.84173/ - a guy was setting up a home reef aquarium, bought a big nice natural rock, and there was a horrible little alien worm in there that crawled out to eat his collection over time.

i liked the flipside article he did where he filled the draft with nothing but 8ft tall guys with maxed out stats and the last real life player to be forced out of the league was Anthony Davis

he did this in madden too, it was so funny to see like no-name jamokes (i can't remember which but it was guys like keith null or whatever) pass for ten thousand yards in a season only because 90% of the league was 5 foot tall gnomes who weigh 80 pounds.

not sure it was exactly a forum, but there used to be a webcomic review site called something like "enter the dream" like 20 years ago. it was structured kind of like a forum with each topic being a webcomic and then the reviewers giving their takes underneath so i figure it counts

their review of Buttlord GT was amazing, sourpuss nerds with giant dragon avatars huffing that it was juvenile and sophomoric

also there was an actual vbulletin on atomictoy (run by andy helms of buttlord fame) that i used to lurk, they did weekly comic jams but i dont think any remains online :(

e: i used to have an account on a private forum called "mens' room in the fat trekkies building". no sagas there, but its a great forum name

yeah my favourite bit is when the last six foot guy won league mvp with 6 points and like 30 rebounds a game lol

my first forum experience was on the official Cyanide and Happiness forum, which not only stole the SA forum template and all of the emojis, but had it's own knockoff FYAD subforum complete with unique stylesheet that everyone hung out in.

discovering SA years later was a wild experience.

Several species known as "segmented worms" can do this yes

I am sorry for broadening this horizon for you

E: Even the ones that can't just make two new worms, like Earthworms, can still regenerate like 80% of their fuckin bodies, it's wild

the first forum i was a regular on was joyrex.com for fans of aphex twin, late 90s. i was even a mod (lol) for a while but afaicr i mostly dealt with moving threads asking about misnamed songs (from napster or whatever) from general chat to the fakes identification subforum. i was big on customer support voice, "I think you will find that this exact question has been asked many times before, please direct further enquiries to the designated forum. For future reference, the song is called To Forgive, But Not Forget and was made by Outside. Despite the superficial similarity to Girl/Boy Song, it was not written by Aphex Twin, etc"

probably pretty similar to early fyad. we were all 13-17 so a lot of it was big dramatic flamewars about TeamSpeak alongside funny irony threads and gross porn.

main difference is that most of the posters came to the site to share their knockoff fan comics, so there was a ton of pretty great art being shared in knockoff fyad. one of the regulars went on to be a moderately famous newgrounds personality and indie game developer.
