my first forum experience was on the official Cyanide and Happiness forum, which not only stole the SA forum template and all of the emojis, but had it's own knockoff FYAD subforum complete with unique stylesheet that everyone hung out in. discovering SA years later was a wild experience.

prayer group posted:whoa, i've never heard about this. what was their fyad like probably pretty similar to early fyad. we were all 13-17 so a lot of it was big dramatic flamewars about TeamSpeak alongside funny irony threads and gross porn. main difference is that most of the posters came to the site to share their knockoff fan comics, so there was a ton of pretty great art being shared in knockoff fyad. one of the regulars went on to be a moderately famous newgrounds personality and indie game developer. I'm really glad the awful eye of the internet didn't turn uli into a chris chan situation. people still got weirdly obsessive here and elsewhere but he didn't get many stalkers and freaks.
