Also for the record I accidentally grabbed an edible instead of a regular cookie right before I watched Beard After Hours when it first came out and lemme tell you.. I think /I/ was completely changed as a person..

Wife and I took acid for the first time, put on Ted Lasso because we wanted to start off with nice vibes, and ended up marathoning the entire second season in a single evening. Beard After Hours really hit home.

There was a real sense of dread for me watching the new episode. There clearly has to be some conflict coming, and wondering what that could be. Richmond is doing too well.

They haven’t faced West Ham yet. I imagine that’s probably happening in the next episode or two.

The future episode descriptions say when that's gonna happen.

Also very unrealistic because in reality at least half of those players would have been straight into the nearest coffeeshop although I’m sure the Dutch tourist board will appreciate that legal weed wasn’t mentioned once.

There was the brief mention of a space cake.

Overall great episode, and a nice counterpart to the second season Beards night out adventure where we didn't need to see any of it this time and can just accept he's had an insane time.

What I miss from earlier is these guys actually feeling like famous professional footballers. I get that one of the whole points of the show is the effect that Ted had on them, but it kind of undermines the amazing progress Jamie has made when they all seem to have become 13 year olds.

My speculation for the end of the season/series is that it ends with Richmond about halfway in the rankings. Clearly not contending for a win, but also not worrying about relegation, just set up to try again next year. Because that's the reality. No loss is final in sports, and no win, no matter how spectacular, is either. Ted leaving the team in defeat is an unsatisfying ending, but also ending on triumph misses the point as well.

All the characters could be personally sad even if Richmond is doing well, and they could all be happy even if Richmond is doing poorly. The show is about the characters finding their own paths to happiness, and Richmond's ranking is a red herring in that regard.

I just think it's lame that media can never fully acknowledge that psychotropics can be beneficial. It always has to end on the stupid "the drugs were inside you the whole time" message.

Also it just strains my suspension of disbelief when completely sober people think they're tripping balls. Especially someone who had done it before like Coach Beard.

With the revelation, it doesn't read so much as Beard tripping, as that he is stroking the couch feeling anxious, trying to get into the zone, and eventually decides that it's not working because Ted is there sober next to him killing the vibe.

Didn't the real leaks a few years ago involve a lot of iCloud hacks? Was surprised it came up in an Apple show. Or maybe I'm misremembering, don't really want to Google it all.

I also like how Jamie went and apologised.

It wasn't anything he had consciously done, and at the time Keeley would have known if she stopped to tonight his email was likely poorly protected. However ultimately he had the material and had been trusted to keep it secret and took all the responsibility in apologizing.

after colin gets outed to the squad at least one other richmond player will reveal they're gay

With the time left I don't think they'll do a big exploration of it. I reckon he'll have big coming out moment to the team and they'll just be "oh, cool" and talk about how they already know one or two other team members are gay, and all the overly macho comments Colin has been making just made them not feel safe telling him.

A big part is not knowing what the theme of this season is meant to be (even if they then subvert it).

Season 1 was very much about the team getting to know Ted Lasso, and Rebecca's scheme where she is actually undermining the team. The moment where she confessed to Ted and he immediately forgave her and they moved on definitely established what the show actually is about. Along the way we get to explore the characters and find out how they are deeper than we thought at the start.

Season 2 was them being relegated and trying to fight their way back up. Along the way we get to see the characters grow and change and develop.

Season 3 seems to be just about following what's happening to the characters. Not really sure what the arc is still.

I'm kind of with Looten here in that I think the moral statement of the PSA segment was a little incoherent. So even if someone consensually sends you nude photos, you should delete them because there's a chance you might get hacked? Obviously I wouldn't condone things like showing other people naked pictures of your ex, but if the mere possibility of getting hacked makes it reckless to keep sensitive photos, doesn't that also make it reckless to take such photos in the first place?

That's not the point though.

The Jamie/Keeley conversation with him apologizing and Keeley clearly not being angry at him because of course Jamies email she sent it to wasn't secure addresses what you're saying.

It's more about doing the right thing, which Jamie did, which is recognizing that the reasons material was sent to him no longer apply so it would be weird for him to be looking at it, so he deleted it.

The reason Nate still lives in his old flat and drove his old car is tied into why, the better part of a year into being a manager for a top tier premier league club he still gets wowed when his boss asks him out for a drink.

He doesn't think he deserves this/is good enough for it, and part of him is terrified of it all inevitably going away as quickly as it arrived.

I was fine with this episode except for everything involving Nate, it feels so clearly like something that shouldnt be there. I assume they play West Ham next week? I wonder if the reconciliation for Nate was supposed to be during/after that game across the coaches border or whatever, with Nate being fired for not going for the jugular or something. Once Sudeikis held firm on not doing this anymore, they rewrote it so he could get a feel good send off with a winning team. They then had to immediately positioning Nate to take over now instead of a presumptive later season, which leaves the door open for a show called Richmond FC: Ted Less, so

That seems like it could be it.

Also I love how non-confrontational Ted is, with the reveal that he saved Beard from going back to prison after being imprisoned for drug related crimes, then takes him overseas for a high paid job and just nods and shrugs at him having all night drug benders with his destructive gf.

The Man City fans and managememt all being gracious and portrayed in the best possible light was likely a condition of them being so involved in the filming. Much like how West Ham was portrayed as all being decent outside Rupert.

I like to imagine that is just the opening teaser and those are the opening credits, without Ted sitting in the stand.

Relevant to Jamie accent chat, his actor is the guest on this weeks No Such Thing As A Fish and they spend quite a bit of time talking about Jamie's accent, including how much he enjoys saying poopeh.

Jamie becoming not an rear end in a top hat is one of the things the show did really well, especially the growth of his friendship with Roy and increased maturity and self-reflection in dealing with Keeley.

If not for us having seen Teds viewpoint when he thought he had invented Total Football, I could have seen the final episode reveal being that he spots the offside before anyone else, and it's because of course he knows all the rules of the game, he's coach for a team in one of the worlds biggest leagues and that he just put it on for the team because he didn't see his job as how to try and tell them to be better footballers, but to try and make them a better team of people.
