I would have guessed the Rizin belt would be at 154 because that's what 70 kg translates to.

ONE Friday Fights preview:

ONE Friday Fights 8 - 2022-03-10
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand

In week 8 of ONE Friday Fights, we have begun getting a regular influx of people making their second appearance on the show.

In the main event, Petsukumvit Boi Bangna takes on Petchmuangsri Tded99. Petsukumvit defeated Chorfah Tor.Sangtiennoi via decision in the entertaining main event of OFF3, and appears to continue to hold the Rajadamnern Stadium Super Featherweight title. Petsukumvit’s trainer Ansukumvit has brought in three famous boxers to help train with Petsukumvit for this fight. He is 6-1 since the beginning of 2022.

Petchmuangsri Tded99 won a unanimous decision in the co-main of OFF4 over Mongkolkaew Sor Sommai. He is only 19 years old and he says his plan is to keep Petchsukumvit at range and try to win in boxing, but he acknowledges that his opponent is also a strong boxer and that he may try to win via counter. His record is 4-4-1 since the beginning of 2022.

The other notable appearance is Alaverdi Ramazanov in the main event of the first half of the show. Ramazanov makes his return after being defeated by Nong-O in the excellent main event of the first OFF show. He was the inaugural ONE Bantam Kickboxing champion, defeating Zhang Chenglong in 2019, but he lost the belt to Capitan in his first defense in 2021.

Also, if you’re reading this, mark your calendars for next Friday, March 17, as ONE Friday Fights is once again headlined by a title fight! Champion Regian Eersel takes on Sinsamut Klinmee for the ONE Light Muay Thai championship.

ONE Friday Fights 9 Preview - 2022-03-17
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand

Tomorrow’s ONE Friday Fights show is the biggest since the original, since it’s headlined by a ONE title fight.

ONE’s king of Lightweight (170 lb) stand-up, “The Immortal” Regian Eersel, faces Sinsamut “Aquaman” Klinmee in an immediate rematch of their fight back in October that ended up with a split decision victory for Eersel. 30-year-old Regian has been fighting since 2013 and has not lost since 2016, currently 7-0 in ONE. Eersel is not invincible, though, as his previous three fights were a split decision, a fight where he suffered a knockdown but won a decision, and then a split decision. He is the first ONE Light Kickboxing champion (won in 2019, four defenses) and the first ONE Light Muay Thai champion (won in the October fight over Sinsamut).

Sinsamut is 27 and only joined ONE a year ago as a late replacement, earning the Muay Thai title opportunity after two KO wins. He has a record of 86-16-3 and is scheduled later this year to participate in the ONE Openweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix. He’s big for a Thai fighter so throughout the years he had to go between Muay Thai and boxing to be able to find opponents his size to fight. Even so, Eersel has an 8 inch reach advantage over Sinsamut.

The first fight was very close. Round 1 saw leg kicks landing both directions, with each fighter landing only a few clean punches, perhaps a very slight advantage to Regian. Round 2 was even closer, with nothing particularly decisive between the two. Round 3 Eersel landed almost nothing, while Sinsamut landed a few solid leg kicks and Regian’s left leg was starting to look really gross. Round 4 was similarly even to round 2, but again the most memorable part was Sinsamut’s hard leg kicks ringing out through the arena. In round 5 Regian must have known he needed to make an impression, because he finally got aggressive and landed a significant number of punches to take the round.

Which means that by my uninformed eyes, I had the first fight… a draw by a score of 2-2-1. Either way, both fighters had a defensive, counter-based style in the fight, so there is an opportunity for a different kind of fight in the rematch if either decides to be the aggressor. Eersel had success with this strategy in round 5, so he could be the one leading on the show tomorrow.

Part 1

Nakrob vs. Chen Jiayi (MT 135)
Yoon Chang Min (6-2) vs. Kirill Gorobets (12-2) (MMA 159)

If you only watch one:
(C) Tetsuya Yamato (44-20-1, 32 KO, -149-BK #8) vs. Kenta Hayashi (22-9-2, 14 KO) (143 Title)

In the main event of the night, 35-year-old Tetsuya Yamamoto looks to continue the feel-good story of winning the K-1 World MAX 2010 tournament and finally breaking through to win a K-1 title in 2022, the 17th year of his career. He attempts his second Super Light title defense against former K-1 Light champion Kenta Hayashi.

Getting my ONE Friday Fights preview in at the last second:

ONE Friday Fights 10 - 2022-03-24
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand

Airs 8:30 AM ET to 12:30 PM ET on Youtube

ONE says that last week, ONE Friday Fights was the “most-viewed Muay Thai event in history.” So, you don’t have to take just my word that it’s a great show, everyone in Thailand is watching it too.

This week’s main event features Yodkritsada battling Theptaksin at 132 lbs. Both are making their ONE Friday Fights debuts. Yodkritsada, known as “The Human Rock,” is 31 years old and already has a 1-1 record in 2023. In 2022 he was 4-2-1, after having no fights in 2021.

Theptaksin was out of pro fighting for a year between October 2021 and November 2022, and is 1-1 since his return. He is 25 years old and is the WMTC 135 lb champion. They were originally set to meet on 2/25 but the fight was delayed because Theptaksin hurt his elbow in his knockout victory over Yodchai on February 1. He says he has been training two months for his first fight with the small gloves as well as his first time doing only 3 rounds.

Notable on the undercard is the return after only three weeks of “I’m Him” Lawrence Phillips, who made a literal impact on the Lumpinee crowd with an 18-second slam knockout of Ben Parker at OFF7.

Part 1

Petklangna vs. Shingo Shibata (MT 145)
Anton Petrov vs. Luca Lombardo (MT 160)
Lawrence Phillips (2-0) vs. Akhmed Baguzhaev (1-0) (MMA 265)
Yu Karino (8-2) vs. Ivan Parshikov (9-3) (MMA 145)
Yod-IQ vs. Samuel Bielen (MT 145)
Chorfah vs. Sherzod Kabutov (MT 136)

ONE Friday Fights 11 - 2022-03-31
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand

Airs starting at 8:30 AM ET on ONE's Youtube channel

Week 11 of the ONE Lumpinee series features the first “rematch of a previous main event.” And rightfully so, as the first battle between Superball and Kongklai was in the top 5 best fights in the series to-date.

You can see that fight here, and I rewatched it in anticipation of today’s show.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIu39nHxP0o&t=12754 (Timestamp 3:32:34)

Round one was fairly close, but Superball had a few more consequential blows as well as a better performance at clinch range. Superball knocked Kongklai down with a head kick early in round 2, though Kongklai protested that the momentum of Superball’s leg knocked him over rather than damage from the kick itself. Kongklai then almost immediately knocked Superball down with a right hook. Kongklai ended up landing a few more damaging strikes in the remainder of the round, which was one of the most exciting rounds of the year in any sport. In round 3 saw Superball crashing into the clinch repeatedly as both fighters were exhausted, but it didn’t look like Superball landed that many solid strikes compared to the number of punches and elbows Kongklai squeezed in. To my uniformed eyes, I would have scored it 2-1 for Kongklai. The judges, however, gave the unanimous decision to Superball. Still, it was a tremendous, legendary ONE Lumpinee fight, and both fighters earned the post-fight bonus, leading to tonight’s main event rematch.

Part 1

Aleksandra Savicheva (2-0) vs. Anelya Toktogonova (2-1) (MMA 125)
