That's true but the point was people saying at his peak he outearned his brothers is substantiated by his own brothers. A decade since does change the contracts and situation but it wasn't like people were trying to claim the average ufc fighter made more than an nfl player. Also the sponsorship era.

GSP was even fighting in the UFC when Masvidal was in the same company. He won the middleweight title while Masvidal was getting bodied by Demian Msia.

People underestimate just how much MMA has developed in the last 10 years. Even the broad strategic strokes of a fight were different, before all the new tactical wrinkles.

"Good" wrestling defense was having a fast, heavy sprawl. The average striking pace was glacial in comparison. People who weren't BJJ world champions were happy to work from the bottom for extended periods of time to try to catch submissions.

That said, prime GSP would wrestle prime Masvidal into oblivion.

its not even that, Masvidal was being wrestled and outstruck to oblivion by lightweight Gilbert Melendez when GSPs career was winding down and he he still dominated for another 2 years but looked beatable against Condit and Hendricks
